I am not sure there is a question, or a statement of opinion. I will assume it is a question and answer accordingly. Catholics pray at Liturgy/Sunday Mass to the Father, through the Son, with the Holy Spirit. The goal of Catholic Prayer is not for be to confirmed in my sins, but liberation from them, which is true and authentic freedom. The freedom to live by God’s grace to do what is good and Holy.
If you are stating that you, as a Jewish person, think the Catholic Church should ordain women, well hmmmm. I am going to petition the Vatican, dear Pope Benedict, there is a shortage of mothers in the U.S. due to abortion, so to increase the vocation to motherhood, I want the Catholic Church to infallibly declare that men (like me) can get pregnant and give birth to childrent. Failure on your part in doing so is mean, repressive, totalitarian, and patriarchial. So when the Pope says I, as a man, can be a mother, then perhaps we will talk about women priests!!!!
Actually, I agree with you. The Tide has indeed turned.
Deo Gratia
I have to respectfully (partly) disagree with you. While those who aren't fit to be spiritual fathers should never be ordained (which DOES need to be repeated, AGAIN), they can be validly ordained. Women can never be validly ordained, thus this is a situation that should be treated in and of itself.
The Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said not to put a woman over a man because of the created order. See 1 Corinthians 11:3, and 1 Timothy 2:12-14. In order to get around these verses, many have attacked the inerrancy and authority of the Scriptures and as you say 'Keeping the Church male dominated' IE in the Dark ages.
The only problem, is that attacking the Scriptures attacks the Savior behind them and once He and the Scriptures are eliminated the Church looses it's saltiness and witness to the World about the Savior who Saves.
The current pattern for churches embracing women over men ministries are that they have been abandoning the Father, Son (the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit (our only comforter) in favor of "Mother, Womb and Child", often quickly abandoning the Worship of the Savior for a false pagan God such as Gaia.
Folks may not like the Scriptures, but they are the only rule of faith and law in the church if the church is to survive.
Please cite the sources of your claim.
The Church doesn’t ordain women because Christ only called men to be his apostles, standing for Him at the consecration and in confession.
The consequences of dismissing this include such blasphemies as listed above, but these consequences are not the reason the Church acts as it does, no more than fear of venereal disease is why it teaches chastity.
The stance of Catholic politicans, like all other politicians, on every issue, is public knowledge. The Catholic hierarchy is not blimd to their public opinions.
Therefore, if John Kerry or Rudy Giulani join with others in the congregation to receive Communion, and they are recognized, where does the pastor, the officiating priest, or an extraordinary minister receive the authority to "aid and abet" the commission of what the Church says is a serious sin?
fr_freak is obviously misinformed and I'm mildly interested in knowing the source of that comment.
I didn’t read fr_freak to be arguing that the Church offered those consequences as its reasons, just that they were logical effects of the cause.
Bologna....customs change...think for your self and apply the ethics/intentions/values of Christ...
It isn't a custom.
apply the ethics/intentions/values of Christ
How about we stick to his actual deeds and words, instead of jumping to self-validating conclusions about his "ethics," "intentions," and "values"?
Oh, and we're not 1500 behind the times. We're 2000 years behind the times, and proud of it.
silly response...slavery was a “tradition”....this is 2008 and old guys made these Catholic “traditions” 2000 years ago. They designed the mass, the dress, the rules. NOT Christ. Time to do the right thing. Let Priests marry and let women have equal roles as “ministers” to the the people.
Christ would want you to be honest/open/truthful and fair....not a “blind” follower of old traditions.
Sorry to see you saying Bologna... to the Holy Scriptures. The Lord Jesus Christ takes each one of these seriously as none of His Words will ever pass away.
In our church, we hold that the Holy Scriptures are Inerrant, Authoritative and Plenary (complete). We hold that "The Scriptures are the only rule of faith and practice in the church".
Those who want to become members are asked to affirm this and it eliminates bickering, posturing and other problems. You have no idea how nice it is to be in a church where believers can gather together, have unity and a solid basis for common ground.
Our women rejoice in their unique roles - which are now despised in the world.
So I urge you to rethink your opposition to the Holy Scriptures. Peter said to Christ "Where else will we get the Words of Eternal life. Peter was right.
Also,
Slavery wasn't a tradition is was economics.
So let me understand this...only Priests can speak for Christ? You aren’t arguing “facts”...just a bunch of man made traditions that can be changed as easily as they were established. THINK for yourself!
