We're on FR not a formal Church setting. Unless you're reading something into the scripture something more than is there.

Not a denomination? Oh, really? Says who?

Says the Catholic Church, that's who!

Denominationalism is an ideology which views some or all Christian groups as being, in some sense, versions of the same thing regardless of their distinguishing labels. Not all churches teach this. The Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches do not use this term as its implication of interchangeability does not agree with their theological teachings.

And...

The term denomination was innovated in the late seventeenth century by those groups of Christians in England who dissented from the established Church of England but considered themselves to be entirely loyal to the British state and recognized the monarch as having rights with respect to the Church of England.

Oh no, Ms. Bible literalist. You are not to preach or teach to me because I have authority over you as a man, LOL!

So tell me again how the Catholic Church doesn't meet the definition above. Thanks.

Those references don't really tell me much about you. What church do you attend?

"Those references don't really tell me much about you. What church do you attend?"

What difference does that make? Does the Catholic Church read the bible differently from those who don't?

Read my post #502. I think the Seminary at Hartford should know better than that dictionary reference.

"Dude", you say.

You have irreverent ways of addressing people.

And that especially applies to the way you abbreviate Jesus Christ, as well.

"I think the Seminary at Hartford should know better than that dictionary reference."

I don't recognize the Seminary at Hartford. I do recognize the common meaning in a dictionary.

The difference it makes is obvious, Marajade. The church one attends definitely has a major influence on the way people intrepret the Bible and how they think religiously.

To deny that is just silly!

"The church one attends definitely has a major influence on the way people intrepret the Bible and how they think religiously."

A contradiction between the Catholic Church, what it teaches and the Bible... 2 Peter 1:20.

Sheesh. You're a non-stop gibberish machine. Do you expect anyone to accept you as authoritative on anything?

The reason you don't recognize them is because they blasted you out of the water.

No, but I expect the Bible to be authoritative. Do you?

Where is the name "Catholic Church" in the Bible?

Ok, tell me Marajade. Do you think God is pleased with your irreverant moniker JC when applied to His only Begotten Son?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . .

So . . . doctrine defines denomniationalism! LOL.

I think most Americans would be quite surprised to read that. Denomination for them has become a very generic term.

Welllll, Romans are certainly entitled to think of themselves as they see fit . . . as are all groups.

However, most Christians in the USA will likely continue to consider the Roman church one of many Christian denominations. Haughtiness on the part of Romans about being "loftier than thou" will not change the meaning of "denomination" for most Christians and probably for most western citizens.

No huge thing to me . . . in a lot of respects. Though pride in human aspects of RELIGION has routinely been eventually disciplined most harshly by God Almighty throughout the ages.

Certainly it will be so again in this END TIMES age.
