Knowing in that sense refers to experience.. Experiencing intimacy..
Physical intimacy.. There is a difference between physical intimacy and spiritual intimacy..
Spiritual intimacy is what "we" crave and need, I believe..
Physical intimacy is a metaphor and mask.. of the real thing..

Scripture refers to man and woman becoming one flesh, not one spirit..

But a spiritual "merging" is what humans desire..
Physical merging(more or less) is a metaphor.. and quite lonely..
A spiritual merging with God and/or each other is whats needed... really.. Brings to mind 1Cor 2;9...
