I know. I had friends who were all gung ho about it, so I looked into it. No matter what evidence you present it's very hard to change the minds of the "true believers" in this gunk.

Thanks! I needed that. Just watched EWTN's program on cloning and stem cell research. What a shock to learn that NJ passed a bill last year that allows for the cloning of a human being and its placement in the uterus of a woman - BUT - mandates that it must be destroyed just before birth. I am pinging the pro-lifers to this post in hopes that one or all of them are aware of this bill and can sound the alarm. This is the first time that I had to turn EWTN off ... one catholic who emailed the program spoke of her spouse who died from a debilitating disease. She so lamented hearing about the catholic position on 'fetal stem cell research' on last week's program, that she claimed to be embarassed to be a catholic.
One of the panelists was a catholic priest ethicist. He said most of us are totally unaware of just how far fetal stem cell research has progressed. He said it is not longer a slippery slope but a rapid slide into the strongest abusing the weakest in the hopes of extending their lives.
The program just made me shudder.

So why isn't she funding it?
It is not illegal, the government is just not funding it (good). This whole thing just bugs me. These ignorant people cry and cry to touch the heartstrings of people, yet have not clue what they are talking about.
Last week, Rush quoted an article that stated Bone marrow cells are seeming to be just as useful as stem cells. I'm sure that the government will fund that.
In the meantime, if stem cell research could cure the world, those EVIL medical companies would be doing it for a buck.
