To discount Christianity because of fringe elements is equivalent to rejecting the doctrine of laissez-faire due to the peculiarities of the Randite system. The use of an offbeat fictional TV program is akin to condemning capitialism due to viewing Warner Brothers' strange 1947 movie "The Fountainhead".Though some believers cloud the issue with fuzzy emotions and "inner leadings of the Holy Spirit", Christianity is a religon of logic, reason and evidence.(Acts 17:2-3, Ephesians 3:4, I Thessalonians 5:21, Hebrews 11:1)
That doesn't mean that I don't agree that the "faith-based" use of tax money is unwise. That is not a Constitutional nor legitimate use of tax funds. In addition, the New Testament authorizes a way for Christians to raise money for the Lord's work and it doesn't involve the government. (I Corintians 16:1-2)
