Roger should plunk Manny next pitch.

I'm glad he didn't. Baseball should have more class than your (hopefully tongue-in-cheek) recommendation.

Thanks for your civilizing input. We should all be watching cricket.

However, one of the greatest scenes I ever witnessed as a young kid was at Wrigley Field in the last of a four game Cardinals-Cubs series that was extremely hard fought and passionate. Circa 1967 or 68:

Bob Gibson faced Fegie Jenkins who had knocked Javier out cold after Boyer or somebody hit a three run dinger against him the previous inning. Gibson faced Jenkins, the opposing pitcher, and knocked him down ... onto the dust ... three straight times with righteous chin music. After Gibson sent Fergie sprawling three times, he then hit him square in the side with a laser fastball on ball four.

Gibson feared noone out there. He didn't care if he put the pitcher on base. He exacted revenge immediately, and that's why he was great and the Cardinals were winners too. You wanna charge the mound against Bob Gibson? Well, he's there to greet you with a fine how do ya do. Nobody messed with that Alpha.

Sorry, I like intensity in sports. I like the occasional fight in hockey too.
