[history]
October 10, 2003 -- EAGLE, Colo. - The woman who accused NBA superstar Kobe Bryant of rape said he attacked her from behind - grabbing her around the neck with both hands, leaning her over a chair, pulling down her panties and raping her, a detective testified yesterday.

NBC News certainly didn't help Kobe with a report that he's pretty much been socially unstable for most of his adult life.

What an incredibly stupid thing for a defense attorney to have said. She might as well be working for the prosecution. That was my reaction, to this statement and the blatant multiple uses of the victim's name.

I believe that the girl was part of the whole deal...She went along and then got scared...In my book both of them are bums, and this whole thing should be thrown out... However Kobe is gonna' pay big time he isn't in LALA land now he's in Colorado....His goose is cooked!!!!

While in the beauty shop yesterday, I read Esquire article on Bob Greene and the story about how he got fired from his newspaper position. After about 9 years, this woman came forward to blackmail Greene about their affair, it was apalling. That pales in comparison with this story. It is really amazing that Clinton continued to have positive ratings after what he having oral sex in the WH, while conducting plans in Bosnia and being investigated for sexual harassment. Go figure

The minister was there when my wife and I signed ours. He didn't give us any condoms though. (smile)

"I dunno, I think this is gonna come down to a case of he said/she said."
I don't think so. This is a small rural communitee. Only the full timers are going to be on the jury, not the tourist elite.

"He leaned her over a chair.....then he proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her from behind..."
Kobe stated that he typically had sex in this fashion so that both could still watch MTV....

Using a basketball analogy - Kobe doesn't have home court advantage in this hearing and I think venue will play an important role. Vail/Beaver Creek is not a liberal hotbed and that may translate to the judical system as well (I must admit this is speculation).
If this trial were in LA, it would already be over, Kobe would have paid off the woman or maybe he would have recieved a slap on the wrist and 200 hours of community service.
No, I think Kobe has an uphill climb and he is going to pay some heavy dues.

The detective said DNA tests on blood streaks found on Bryant's T-shirt showed the blood came from the victim.
This can't be good for Kobe.

My previous posts on this subject indicate I'm not on Kobe's side. However, one thing bothers me.
If what she says happened was happening to me, I'd be screaming my lungs out. I'd take that chair and swing it around on his face. I'd fight like a banshee. Screams often drive attackers away.
After all, they were in a hotel full of people and it appears his bodyguards were in an approximate room. It's not like they were in the middle of a remote desert somewhere where screams would go unnoticed. I haven't read where he duct-taped her mouth.
Perhaps she was paralyzed with fear. Perhaps some women react differently when raped. I don't know. All I know is that something doesn't compute here, at least to me. I would be yelling so loud it would wake up every customer and staff person in the entire hotel.

It's actually not good for any of us, as you can bet the defense team will subject the court (meaning, everyone following the case) to days of testimony about how it's natural for some women to bleed every time they have intercourse, etc. We're going to go even lower into the gutter than we already are.

Good find...could be her.
"She is not stupid"...NO, she is vicious.
Regarding her NAMING the claimant 6 times....What about the Rape-shield law??
To: Merovingian
Correct that last post...The Rape-Shield law was violated by her making the statement about the three times in three days..
