How wonderful that you were able to stand and speak so lovingly of your Father. I lost my Mother over a year ago and know the pain you feel. I will say a prayer for your Father, and for you.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful eulogy with us. You brought him to life for all of us here. That is the gift he left you. You'll find in the days, and weeks, and months ahead, that he left much more. You've been blessed in your life to have such a father.

Can you ask your dad to send some prayers this way?

ASKED AND, IF I KNOW HIM, ANSWERED.

And say hello to him for me.

JUST DID.

Tim and I combined our brainpower one more time, and we went to Dad and said, We brought you to see the redwoods, you’re going to see the redwoods. We positioned ourselves to either side of him, and he anticipated what we were going to do, and he just relaxed. We put our arms under his arms and his back and just lowered him straight back onto the ground, so he could look up and enjoy the treetops. He lay there on his back for several minutes, smiling as he looked up, and we just stepped aside, letting him take his time.

Absolutely beautiful.

If I were half the man he was…I’d be twice the man I am.

Many guys feel this way about their fathers...and I pity the ones who don't--either their fathers aren't up to it, or simply aren't around. Glad you concur. Thanks.

A prayer of mine goes with him too.

I know it helped the journey. Thank you.

That's a fine eulogy, and I expect it pleased him.

Thank you, and I hope you're right. The nice thing was, when writing it, I had to cut SO many stories! Which only means, he had a rich life.

Beautiful.

My sincere sympathy to you, and I shall pray for you.

My own father has been gone for over ten years, now; and I'm not sure a day goes by that I don't miss him, sometimes very painfully. What a hole he left.

If I were half the man he was…I’d be twice the man I am

Ditto here with my dad. Thanks.

Dan

Stay strong and live to make him proud...

Unexpectedly, I have never felt stronger, or more directed, or wanted more to make him proud than now. And that's all good. Losing a parent is a milestone, of course, a major life-marker.
