I don't think the word "feminism" can be redeemed at this point, no matter what the movement's original intent. The negative connotations are firmly fixed in people's minds. Feminists who think as you do need to come up with a new description for yourselves.

Sorry I disagree. This would be analgous to saying that since extremists have been successful in convincing many people that Americans are bad ... and since Americans are not very popular in many parts of the world .. we should change our name our flag to gain popularity.

This would be the same as proposing that since Catholics have gotten a lot of bad press lately due to some outrageous behavior on the part of a few ... they should change their name and not be call themselves Catholics anymore.

Again, feminists (in all but name) who run and hide and allow the extremists to set the agenda are COWARDS.
