I'm not so sure it's silly. I think it's significant that one of the largest sources of Tom's money was Indian Gambling interests. Sure, every politician takes money from special interests, but not $3 million.
I was frankly rather shocked to hear that Tom took that much from the Indians. I respected Tom, even if I didn't think he could win (I still don't) and was concerned about his inability to get along with his colleagues -- not a problem for his conservative principles, but perhaps a problem if he were governor. But on the basis that he was too conservative and not a team player, I didn't think he was a bad guy, just not the right guy right now.
However, I think the issue of Indian Gaming, as a special interest with tons of money to throw around, is a real potential, if not actual, corruption issue.

Please Lord, don't let Rita Cosby at Fox News announce final election results. Amen. But ... but ... she's got SOURCES!

And if their voters are sitting on their rear ends that may not make a difference. If Democrats think Arnold is going to win in a landslide, that throws all their calculations out of the window. That being said, people should pay close attention to the spin of the party talking heads. And their facial expressions. They'll tell you more than the exit polls will about the outcome tonight.

Duf Sundheim doesn't look so happy on CNN
To: sissyjane
Right after the commercial CNN is going to have both party chairmen on. Should be interesting. Also, Kelly Wallace a arnold campain headquarters says the campaign is optimistic, and talking about polls. Looks like good news. Watch the party talking heads for clues. Please update us on that, if you can.

Uh huh. From their lips to God's ears. But none of the Democrats seem happy. Gray Davis got a pitiful bunch of followers at his last campaign rally. Turnout at such events is a good barometer as to the political health of your candidate.

Duf's eyes are red. Either crying or getting high. any bets?

Hopefully my "Uh-oh, caught it!" experience and that of a couple others here was an aberration and it was a piece of cake for most voters, who hopefully also started right at the top left corner where they couldn't miss the important question. :) Nope. I am a 30 year old software engineer (programming is a game of details) and I can't remember if I voted Yes on the recall or not. I can say for sure I voted for Arnie and what I did on the initiatives but for the life of me I can't rememebr if I voted Yes on the recall. I believe I did though, but the two sided optical ballot we used in San Bernadino County was weird.

I am sure everything will be fine. The thing reminded me of fine tuning a computer monitor (in how you go through the menus). I won't be seeing another until March. We are not using them for the recall.

Uh Oh. If he doesn't look happy, I think on the off chance Chris Matthews could be right. We'll see.

Saw Bill Press on PMSNBC earlier, he actually predicted victories for both YES on recall, YES on Arnold.
To: rocklobster11
Let's hope its the latter. If its the former, forget about tonight; his facial expressions tell you the GOP's internal polls don't tell them its in the bag. Either that or he's a very good poker player.

The crossfire guys didn't ask either of the party chairmans how they felt about the election. just a bunch of crap about the character issues. It was a complete waste of time

Bill Press IS a liberal. Strange when Democrats and conservatives exchange positions! This is the weirdest election we've ever seen!

>>>Well thank-you. I guess if I don't think exactly like you do, then I am not deserving to be a Republican or a conservative. It would have been nice if before commenting, you read what I posted.
I gave you a thoughtful and rational explanation, defining politics values in America today. Instead of addressing those issues, you've chosen to make me the issue. I didn't create the current standards that are used in todays political environment. I did say to you, however, if you choose to create your own standards, fine, have at it.
The only people I drive off, are those who don't follow conservative principles and those who don't stick by Republican conviction found in the GOP platform.

What's the deal with Prop 53 anyway? I haven't heard much about it, but a cursory look at it makes it sound like a payoff to construction company/union interests.
