I don't live in California, but it's a good thing both California baseball teams are out of the playoffs. For one thing, if the Giants were still alive, they'd be playing tonight, in San Francisco. I'm sure that if the election were close, SOMEONE would claim that the voters were disenfranchised because of the logistics surrounding the game. Also, if this turns into Florida 2000 all over again, the recall would overshadow the NLCS and possibly the World Series.
Incidentally, do all the polling places close at the same time? If so, what time? I plan to follow it all day out of morbid curiosity, that is, until 5pm, when the Cubs open their series in Wrigley.
I'm glad I don't live there. I haven't had to take sides, and be called an Arinebot or Tombot. As they say, I got no dog in this fight.
I leave you with this quotation, from Democratic Party spokesman Bob Mulholland: "We're going to do everything that's legal to have the votes counted in California, and we're putting the Republicans on notice that we're prepared for their goon tactics this time."
That's from a CNN article about 'what happens next': If Davis is recalled, then what happens?

In California, one of the things I looked forward to on election day was the cessation of all the annoying ads. Imagine my dismay when I moved to Oklahoma and found out that this was a California thing -- the ads continue on and on....
Go California!!! Recall Dufus!!!!

This is all about dumping Davis!

Tip for watching early precinct returns:
The 1st ones reported are always absentee ballots from Sacramento county. The magic # here is:
10%
Recent previous elections prove that these are about 10% to the right of the the rest of the state.
Any lead > 10% is usually the margin of victory.

I figured out last night my polling place got moved across the street from my favorite doughnut shop, so I'll be early. MMMMMMMmmmmm.....Krispy Kremes.....

Wouldn't it be cool for lots of folks from across the country to fill out their form and leave them chasing dead leads?

By the way, do you disagree with that assesment of him?I think the term RINO has become meaningless. For some of the memebers here, it simply means anyone who doesn't hold the exact same belief that they themselves do. For some people here everyone holding office as a Republican is a RINO. Alan Keyes is there hero.
In my mind, RINO now means someone who votes for a candidate who can actually win.

Too true. Whichever Republican we're voting for in the Replacement Election, the #1 priority is to Dump Davis in the Recall phase. I'm voting McClintock, btw, but I'm not interested in debating his pros and cons vs. Schwarzenegger on this thread.

I'm in Oklahoma as well. We don't get very many political ads here during elections.

Saber didn't start this thread today to have it turn into another flamefest.. I just finished his countdown. :P
His post inferred that Anrie is not a RINO when even the most ardent supporter of him should know he is. No flaming was involved. Just a comment based on fact according to previous definitions of what a RINO is.
Please, continue discussion and those in California, keep us updated.

In 2000, I stopped at the local bakery and bought the GWB cookies. They were running a poll via cookie sales. The GWB were selling like hotcakes. The Gore cookies...not so much.
Have a donut on me... I wish Tom McClintock well today.

He's not a "RINO". He's an immoral, brainless pig with a rancid political philosophy who couldn't name half of the first 10 amendments to the constitution.
IOW he's perfect for Californicators. People get what they deserve.
