You are right about that GD. We went cable with two computers and it costs about the same as the extra phone + the server cost for two computers.

We were up in SW coastal Oregon for 10 days. The condo that we rented had Direct TV and I watched their commericials for their ISP and was impressed.

A couple of the owners had the Direct TV ISP, and they were really pleased. That area has some really bad winter storms that takes the cable stuff every storm. Or some drunk driver takes out a pole and there goes the cable. Or like in our neighborhood, they were putting some new cable for the first time in over 20 years. There was an ooops and most of my neighbors had no tv for a good part of this past weekend. My Dish satellite tv system didn't miss abeat.

Anyway those ISP satellite owners were really happy with their satellite ISP. DSL was unreliable in that area. One was a realtor and another couple works out of their condo. Last winter they never missed a single hour with some bad storms.

My DIL for some reason fought the satellite dish systems. Then their cable people caused many evenings and mornings to be blacked out above and beyond bad weather and drunk drivers. With a 4 year old and 2 year screaming for their morning tv shows, she went to Direct in their new house and loves it. She is saving about $12 per month versus the cable.

In their new house, the builder wouldn't put a phone jack in what is her new office. SBC the local phone company wanted an arm and a leg to put in a phone outlet in her office room. She called Direct TV and they will put the line in the office area when they install the computer satellite and will put one in their bedroom upstairs or the computer station upstairs for a few extra bucks if she wants to user her portable computer. The guy told her when her children start using one, they will have some special way to handle their needs at low cost off of the same satellite dish in less than two years.

I think that many of us will be satellite tv users and ISP users and some other developments that might just make land lines doa.
