You are welcome for the prayers, ohioWfan. I understand the pain of having a family member out of pocket in harm's way. It is not easy. I know we all continue in our prayers for you and your family as well as all the troops and families on our List to be reunited in the fullness of time.
Part of what has motivated me in participating in a vigil with all our Prayer Warriors is the recognition in my mature years of the price some of my family members have paid through their service. To one family member in particular I give attention.
I was a 'bizzy kid' when my brother was in Viet Nam. As a kid, I was of course just totally and supremely confident at some level that it was my BROTHER...and of COURSE he would come home! There was simply no other possibility. The sense of immortality that the young have, in my case, was extended to my perceptions about my brother. Fortunately, he DID come home safe.
However, in recent years, I have come to recognize that while I appreciated my brother's service, and I was not at all falling for the anti-war clap-trap of the times, I did not support him as much as I could have even though I felt that hole in our family while he was gone. I have regretted that failing. I am grateful that my parents had the understanding of what needed to be done to hold vigil for him. Much of what I do here on our thread is in honor of my brother. It is late. But it is sincere.

Thank you once more for your very generous words, potlatch. I dont at this time aspire to write books...I dont think I have much to say that requires a book!
My dad was a letter writer. He wrote the most amazing personal letters. He was also particularly noted for many cogent letters to the editor. My mom was an English teacher. Our house was filled with books. We love words! I guess I'm saying I get my writing abilities honestly. One of the lessons I learned from my dad was the principle that if you have a gift, you MUST use it somehow to glorify God.
It is my sincere joy that the small prayers I have been able to offer here on our thread have been useful to my brothers and sisters who are like-minded. All glory goes to God, for He is the giver of every good and perfect gift.

"Our nephew Kenny is being sent to Iraq. Please pray for his safe return.
Thanks
DUB & EVE"
Beloved Merciful Father,
We gather here together in these days following Thanksgiving, full of the fruits of the abundance of your blessing in the form of turkey, dressing and other goodies of the table. We are grateful for the tradition of gathering with our families for the sole purpose of giving thanks. You are our God and worthy to be praised and thanked.
Father, as we push back from the table part of what we are grateful for is the immense service of the young people, like the Kenneys of this nation who have stepped up and said, "Here I am. Send me. I will defend those Freedoms which are not free. I am willing to pay the price."
Father, while we are grateful for the many blessings of abundance and plenty you have given us in this nation, we are cognizant that our greatest treasure is our young people who hold and share that Vision of Freedom. Father, we weave this day a very special prayer blanket, and ask that it be full of the rainbow rays of your many and infinite qualities of protection, mercy, wisdom, love, courage, invincibility, and invulnerability. We ask that you will grant Kenney a special honor guard of angels who will guide and direct him, especially in times of danger. Help him complete all missions in safety and according to the highest standards he holds for himself. Charge him with the mantle of leadership, according to his abilities and your Divine Plan for him.
Father this which we call forth for Kenney, we call forth for all our precious troops and their allies who have stepped forward to defend our nation and our civilization. We ask that our prayers may also be forged into those special prayer bullets which can be used by your angels to fight the fight to clear the way before our troops at a spiritual level. Bring our troops home safe and victorious.
Father, your Will is Good. Let ONLY your will be done in the life of Kenney and all our troops. Let your blessings, peace, Freedom, and Liberty be ultimately bestowed on Iraq and the entire Middle East. Liberate, according to your own Will and Timing, this entire world.
Father, we thank you and praise you and ask that you will speak to us each one for that small assignment which we can fulfill which is an acceptable offering to lay on the altar on behalf of our troops.
Amen

Offering prayers for Kenny.
To: TEXOKIE
I should have reported back to you that one week ago my daugther gave birth to a precious healthy baby boy. She is listed here for prayer with her husband, my son-in-law who is in Baghdad! We are all praising God for our new arrival and for the safe delivery. Thank you for those prayers. They were answered! :-)
To: Dubya
Father, I lift up Kenny to you; this is Your child, whom You love. Wrap the arms of Your comfort around his family, that they might know that the God of all Creation is the God who walks with us - even through the Valley of the Shadow. You are the same God who leads us, and shelters us. May we look to Your Face, and see Your light. In Jesus name...
To: Ragtime Cowgirl; ALOHA RONNIE
Thank you so much for transferring to our prayer thread the link and the post 63 from ALOHA RONNIE.
I agree with you in your prayers for our wounded, those with the responsibility of breaking sorrowful news to families, and those who have lost friends in battle. Thank you for reminding us of these very special people.
:-) Thanks. We had SUCH a good time! I hope your Thanksgiving was as joyful! God bless you and yours!

Bumping for prayers for all our troops. God knows all their names.
The prayers on this thread are so inspiring. Surely God will hear our prayers, and protect our troops, and bring comfort to their families while they are gone.
