Hi, TEXOKIE, you know my prayers on this thread don't stop even when I don't check in! I've got a bad stomach virus and just took a minute to check my mail. I'll be fine in a day or two.

I have a field-trip request.
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/news/s_160264.html
This kid is actually a buddy of my younger brother from high school. They were on Cross Country together. They just happened to be at Ft. Riley together. My sister tells me that Matt, the injured soldier, needs to have his chest reconstructed.

Prayer Warrior Field Trip!!
Explorer89 has brought to our attention the story of a young soldier who is a friend of her family in need of prayers. Injuries were sustained to his chest and will require reconstructive surgery.
To read the story, please go here:
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/news/s_160264.html Following that, please offer your prayers and good thoughts for him and all others who have been injured in this conflict for Freedom.
Merciful Heavenly Father,
We are grateful, Father, first of all, that you have so far spared the life of U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Matthew Homa, 23, who suffered shrapnel wounds to his leg, chest, arm and lung when his Humvee hit a remote control bomb. Father, we plead for the life of this young man, and the overshadowing of his doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and all health care professionals working with him this day! Grant them insight and wisdom as they ponder the best approaches to his case. Guide each and every one of them to do a perfect job for all of their patients. Shatter any and all opposition to the efficient and safe functioning of that hospital this day and in the days to come. Shatter any and all momentums of confusion or chaos which can sometimes hold sway in a modern health care setting!
Father, we call forth a complete and total healing of all injuries which he has sustained. Go to microscopic levels and help those cells and cell nuclei pump out the required protein products used in healing body tissues. Help his muscles, connective tissues, circulatory, oxygen exchange, immune, and all body systems have an extraordinary boost in efficiency. We call forth 100% effectiveness of all surgeries, medications, therapies, and treatments, including, but not limited to, all reconstructive surgeries, antibiotic treatments, pain control treatments, and nutritional support therapies.
Father, wrap this young man with a special prayer blanket from our hearts. Let it be infused with your love, mercy, healing, and above all, generous amounts of hope. Assign special angels to be his constant companion through this ordeal which he is facing, fighting back to regain his health. Let these angels work not only with his physical recovery, but also with any and all psychological, emotional, or spiritual damages he may have incurred.
We do not forget his family and loved ones. Father, surround each of these with large measures of your comfort and strength. Help them find and execute the way you would have each of them support Matthew at this time. Let them know and understand that they are not alone in dealing with the fears about Matthew which they are now facing. Father, we call forth the binding and shattering of those fears! Replace those fears with the calm Peace which trust in your Presence invariably brings. Grant them calmness of spirit and a surcease from worry. Let all concerns and questions be reasonably dealt with, and help them not spiral into that maelstrom of fear, worry, and doubt. Help them find a measure of joy and equanimity during this time of stress.
Father, this which we call forth for Matthew and his loved ones, we call forth for all who are in similar situations. We lovingly surrender our prayers and these loved ones to your Holy Will and Keeping.
Amen

Isnt that Stephenson prayer/poem profound? So simple, and it really cuts to the heart of the matter. Someone has died or given his limbs/health for me this day....am I worth it? God help me be able to say "yes."

You are certainly welcome for the prayers, M0sby! I know that I speak for everyone here that it is an honor to be able to be a part of a circle of Prayer Warriors dedicated to the purpose of standing spiritually with our young men and women and our allies serving under arms.
What terrific news!! PLEASE keep us informed!!! (After you have had a reasonable amount of one-on-one time, of course!!)

We can never adequately repay their service, but we can and do pray for their safety and comfort. "
