The primary drug involved here is Vicodin. Search for an article posted here two days ago on the issue.

Well now which is it? Does the NE article follow the investigation closely or does it not? The drug in the investigation is Oxycontin.

I looked up Vicodin and overuse may result in rapid hearing loss, however here is what is alleged.

That's how the National Enquirer describes this week's cover story about archconservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, outed as an OxyContin abuser by his former maid. --- From the Atlanta Journal Constitution

The drug named in the Smoking gun Search Warrant is Hydrocodone, which by itself will not cause hearing loss. In the past, there have been no reports of progressive hearing loss occurring as a result of overdosing hydrocodone or acetaminophen. However, Los Angeles ear, nose, and throat specialists have found that when both agents are combined and overused, hearing loss can occur and can progress to total hearing loss.

But that is not the drug that is tied to Rush.
