Rush: I'll Tell All on Painkiller Story
Newsmax.com ^ | 10/03/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

Posted on 10/03/2003 9:48:28 AM PDT by kattracks

Addressing for the first time allegations that he's under investigation in Florida for abusing prescription painkillers, talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh promised his audience that he'd tell them everything he knew "as soon as I know what I'm up against."

"The story in Florida, it really is an emerging situation," Limbaugh said at the top of his Friday broadcast. "I watch what's being reported on television and it changes from morning to morning, hour to hour, day to day.

He continued:

"I don't know yet what I'm dealing with here, folks. I really don't know the full scope of what I'm dealing with. But when I get all the facts, when I get all the details of this, rest assured that I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is."

Limbaugh pledged, "I'll tell you everything there is - well - maybe more than you want to know."

Sounding confident and strong, Limbaugh said he'd received more than 25,000 supportive emails since he was hit with twin controversies over his comments to ESPN and allegations from a former housekeeper that she obtained for him thousands of painkilling pills over the last four years.

"I can't tell you how much I appreciate the notes, all of the expressions of support. It means everything to me, as has your support over these many years," the top talker said.

I'm sure the call screener was directed not to take calls about the drug issue.

So much for "open line Friday" and callers not being screened for content....

Precisely. In a perfect world, all he would have to do is "tell the truth." But that assumes that the prosecutor and witnesses are honest and will tell the truth. Sadly, that is often not the case (especially when a possibly disgruntled former employee is paid a substantial sum by a tabloid and has hired a Clinton mouthpiece.) If the other side is either lying outright or, more likely, making up stuff from a substratum of truth, he can NOT say anything until they put the cards on the table. Otherwise, they will just make up stuff to make whatever he says look bad.

Since he had a back injury and vestibular disease, both of which can be extremely painful, I imagine he can't out and out deny using painkillers. Having had two major surgeries myself, I can't deny it either! I hated the way they made me feel so I didn't take them for very long, but then again I didn't have long-term, chronic pain. It would be very easy for a hostile "witness" to turn legitimate use of painkillers into an "addiction" by embroidering facts, exaggerating, or outright lying.

I absolutely agree he should say nothing until he sees what the other side has. And since he's got a pretty good lawyer, I imagine he has told him the same thing.

Has anyone considered the possibility that another member of Limbaugh's personal staff was dealing/using these drugs and was the person buying them "for Rush" from the housekeeper/dealer?

I assume there are other threads on this already and I know I'm late to this, but did anyone see Perky Katie this morning on Today saying that Rush was being investigated for "illegal drug use"? I did, and couldn't believe what I heard.

I think Rush's lawyers smell a major lawsuit against the NE.

He isn't talking sports, he is talking about the liberal media twisting his words. If you don't like it turn it off.

Even if all the "there" is there, does that diminish the information he presents?

No, but it casts his vigorous support for the War On Some Drugs in a new and unflattering light.

I had the opposite reaction. Rush's enigmatic statement leads me to believe he's been entraped - something like that.

He knows that even the most innocent remarks can be twisted

How could "I did not illegally acquire prescription painkillers" be twisted?

I have a wierd feeling that Rush is holding off because he wants to see how much mileage the democreeps get with this. Then he and his lawyer can plan his strategy!

Oh I did turn it off. I'll come back when he stops doing the non-denial denials that he criticized others for doing.

He may not know if he is the target of a full bore criminal investigation or not. If I were facing a criminal probe, I wouldn't say anything either

OCTOBER 3--Meet Louis Beshara and his wife, Gloria Rodriguez. The Florida couple are at the heart of the drug scandal now enveloping radio superstar Rush Limbaugh.

Matt Drudge has the link to the smoking gun site.

BS! He never said that he wouldn't screen calls! Even on open line Friday he screens calls. Right at the top of the show he said he wouldn't take calls on the drug thing. The crybaby's and whiners are in full force today. You would think this is a liberal forum or something.

If Rush knows liberals inside and out, why is he so surprised at their reaction to the McNabb comment?

What blows me away is how many Rush-haters there are on this forum. Rush was virtually the first who allowed God to utilize him to expose the lies of the lying Left (Democrat leadership and media) on the airwaves and in a format/style that caught on like fire. If you peel back the layers of how this site began, Rush's program was likely the seed which sprouted the idea that becaume this very forum!

No, Rush, like Bush, is a mighty man of valor, and I pray that the Lord be with him and surround him with encouragers. To lose him would be a terrible loss.

The Left is doing everything they can to destroy what is good and free in America. If you rejoice when evil triumphs over such as Bush and Rush and Christians who try to do what is right, then you can be sure that there will be rejoicing when evil works to destroy YOU.
