Addressing for the first time allegations that he's under investigation in Florida for abusing prescription painkillers, talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh promised his audience that he'd tell them everything he knew "as soon as I know what I'm up against."
"The story in Florida, it really is an emerging situation," Limbaugh said at the top of his Friday broadcast. "I watch what's being reported on television and it changes from morning to morning, hour to hour, day to day.
He continued:
"I don't know yet what I'm dealing with here, folks. I really don't know the full scope of what I'm dealing with. But when I get all the facts, when I get all the details of this, rest assured that I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is."
Limbaugh pledged, "I'll tell you everything there is - well - maybe more than you want to know."
Sounding confident and strong, Limbaugh said he'd received more than 25,000 supportive emails since he was hit with twin controversies over his comments to ESPN and allegations from a former housekeeper that she obtained for him thousands of painkilling pills over the last four years.
"I can't tell you how much I appreciate the notes, all of the expressions of support. It means everything to me, as has your support over these many years," the top talker said.

My understanding is that a "skeleton in the closet" is something someone doesn't want anyone else to find out about. Since we all know about his prior divorces I don't see how they could be in that catagory.

I didn't say there was anything sinful about it. I said I don't want to listen to it. So, I turn it off. No more Rush listener.
I bet some advertising exec said, "Hey a great place to advertise to sexually dysfunctional males is during the Rush Limbaugh show. We'll get lots of victims/volunteers out of that crowd."
Probably some RAT came up with the idea. After all, Republicans are just preoccupied with the sex lives of others. They need help! lol (sarcasm)
To: Orangedog
Okay, I'll apologize for the name calling. It just irkes me when someone makes statements about a show they don't even listen to and know how it operates.

People who buy the drugs and use them, eg. Chandler (FRIENDS), Betty Ford, John Belushi, the homeless druggies, et al, don't go to jail. It's the dealers. Ever hear of "possession with intent to distribute?" just having a large amount will instantly get you charged with it, and a lot of those people end up doing serious time in prison, whether or not you ever had any intention to sell or give it away. Welcome to the war on drugs.

Rush: I'll Tell All on Painkiller Story
Limbaugh pledged, "I'll tell you everything there is - well, maybe more than you want to know."
Sounding confident and strong, Limbaugh said he'd received more than 25,000 supportive e-mails since he was hit with twin controversies over his comments to ESPN and allegations from a former housekeeper that she obtained for him thousands of painkilling pills over the last four years.
"I can't tell you how much I appreciate the notes, all of the expressions of support. It means everything to me, as has your support over these many years," the top talker said. "I've often said throughout the fifteen years that I've been here that you people have made my life an adult Christmas every day."
While Limbaugh did not expressly deny the story, reported first by the National Enquirer on Thursday, he said he was frustrated that "I haven't yet gotten to the bottom of what all this is about."
"I'm very much desirous of telling you about this," he insisted. "But until I know exactly what this is - and I don't yet - it just makes no sense to start delving into it."
When the story hit Thursday, Limbaugh issued a statement explaining that he had yet to be contacted by law enforcement and had no idea that he was under investigation for anything.
He said he couldn't be more specific because "I don't want to deal with hypotheticals and I don't want to respond to what's in the press, though I - I'm very tempted to, but I'm not going to even go there."
"Trust me - it makes no sense for me to go there," the top talker said. "Just trust me on this. When I find out all that this is ... then you are going to be among the first to know."
Palm Beach County law enforcement sources have said that Limbaugh was not the target of their probe. It's not clear whether Limbaugh's housekeeper, Wilma Cline, compromised their larger investigation by selling her story to the supermarket tabloid.

How could "I did not illegally acquire prescription pain killers nor ask or allow anyone to do so for me" be twisted?

My previous post photo is of the duo at the heart of the drug scandal. Louis Beshara and his wife, Gloria Rodriguez supplied the dealer who sold to the woman (Kline) who supplied Rush Limbaugh.

How could "I did not illegally acquire prescription painkillers" be twisted?I hope you have to go through cochlear implant and back surgery.....I hope you get to suffer the pain, the torture, the hell of surgery and then we will see how you like a self-righteous attitude if you get addicted to the pain killers you are dependent upon for so long.
Break your back, asshole.
So you admit he did it. Why won't he?

Yeah, I thought of that, too. It's a fair point. I shouldn't speculate. It's so "cable-news" of me. But it's difficult not to have a reaction.

AS well he should have, I understand his wife treated him very badly.
To: rwfromkansas
Um.....the media will respond with "Rush denies personally buying illegal medications, but his denial still leaves questions about whether he did receive them in other ways." A smart guy like Rush can figure out a statement that covers most angles---and hold a press conference to cover the rest. If he had nothing to hide, that is ....

I assume there are other threads on this already and I know I'm late to this, but did anyone see Perky Katie this morning on Today saying that Rush was being investigated for "illegal drug use"? I did, and couldn't believe what I heard.
That is what he is being investigated for. If someone does not have a prescription for a controlled substance in their posession, it is an illegal drug.
