Rush isn't a felon, cheater, or a liar. But if it's revealed that he's a prescrip. drug addict, then he's a total hypocrite, as I've heard him rail against drug usage many times. Still waiting for this to be confirmed/denied before passing judgement. As far as the race thing goes, he's an idiot for making that speech --- even though he's right about the Philly Defense deserving credit. You just can't say non-PC stuff like that in a position like his and NOT get heat for it, right or wrong. I disagree with PC...but in his industry, it's a fact of life.

This matter will be a sound test of the integrity and moral mettle of either ends of the political spectrum. On the one hand, if the extreme right, as on FR, jumps in with every variation and incarnation of denial and rationalization (ie: the libs will blow it out of all proportion,etc), and reject the concept that allegations such as this (and they are nothing but allegations at this point) are not to be assumed true but must be subjected to competent investigation, and generally stonewall the subject, we'll witness the fraility of their asserted virtue.

On the other hand, if the reciprocal left jumps on the allegations like a duck-on-a-June bug, and thus concludes that, since the allegation has been made, it must therefore be true, that end of our political continuum will demonstrate their lack of good faith and willingness to abandon their rhetorical mantra that all things of importance must be subjected to critical analysis.

Unfortunately, the test case for these measurements (or fortunatley depending on one's knee-jerk orientation) revolves around a figure who is a prince to each.

To the left, Limbaugh is the consummate Prince of Darkness who epitomizes everything that is destructive of truth, justice and a fair dissection of controverted issues of public policy. To the Right, he is the paragon of virtue and embodies the Prince of the American dream of independence and responsibility. One only need listen to an hour of his radio time to hear at least a couple of callers invoke God's blessings on Mr. Limbaugh as the great "truth detector" (as he describes himself with typical modesty).

The posts on this site will illustrate the frequency of these opposed responses---although there probably are more posters here who identify with the right than the other end of the spectrum. The mix of unrelenting, fervent and unwaivering defense and rejection of the report will pose an interesting juxtaposition to those on the other end ranting in their own style.

if I were in pain due to a medical condition, and the medical establishment would not help me (this happens all the time with chronic pain patients and cancer patients near the end), I would obtain the stuff anyway I could. There is a difference between this, and an addict looking to get high on the stuff.

"true conservatives" always hold messianic awe for those they feel are called by God to speak for them. When they find out that NO MAN can live up to that ideal they turn on them with the vengeance of that same God. I had TMJ, went the whole route without surgery. I can yawn okay but have a terrible bite because I threw the nighttime gadgets away. Hated that. Since I can't take pain killers very well, I prefer ice packs or heat wherever I have pain.

People with severe chronic pain don't get high when they take pain killers. They may get drowsy but no buzz.

They're all on cue, aren't they? Accusing Bush in D.C. every single day, Arnold in California and now Rush in Florida. This tells me they don't want to lose Florida next year and they don't want to lose California next week. Make hay in key states seems to be the plan.

This is just the beginning. Remember Newt? How effectively they distroyed him? How the conservatives and Republicans let it take place without a battle?

They've learned a lot since then. Just like the Islamics, they only know how to destroy. Appeasing them leads only to more destruction. It is only when you declare war on them and beat the crap out of them do they begin to show the slightest respect.

We are at war. It is truly a war of good against evil. These are just the early scrimishes. In this war, Bush, Rush and Arnold are all good men on the side of good. They are not perfect. They will need a lot of support and other good men at their side.

If you are caught up in petty squabling and gossip there is a chance you can't see the big picture.

In peacetime, these things don't matter, much like brothers fighting. But in wartime, and we are at war, families pull together, drop the pettiness, recognize what is important and give their attention to destroying the enemy and protecting what is good.

If they can diminish Bush, Rush, and Arnold it will be a big victory for them.
