I think what they did was express an unpopular opinion and abused the position that they had as entertainers. They brought politics when they should have been singing.
Rush made the same mistake... He should have been talking about sports... Politics and race should have been left in the parking lot...
As a conservative, I am more offended by what the Dixie Chicks did because I thought their timing was bad and I thought they did a lot of hit and run but they like Rush, prefer to voice their opinion when they control the mike...

Bull! It was only unpopular in the north east! It was very popular in the South! Especially because Rush is high on Vic! So popularity had nothing to do with it. Besides the fans did it to the Dixie Chicks, not so in this case.
