NOVAK: 'NOBODY IN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION CALLED ME TO LEAK THIS'
Drudge Report ^ | 09/29/03

In July I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing. As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington I do not reveal confidential sources. When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband -- he is a former Clitnon administration official -- they asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else. According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operator, and not in charge of an undercover operatives...

Novak is no fan of the Clinton Administration. He is a very strong fiscal conservative. Novak may be the most honest reporter in Washington. Novak is a Republican and Conservative, however he won't bend over for anyone. Unlike the liberal press, he will challenge his own, actually much like Rush in that way. You have to remember Rush has bashed this administration on certain issues and Novak does the same. Novak was the one who correctly forecasted the 1994 Republican landslide and was accurate again in 2002.

Wilson was on MSNBC blaming Rove. He said at the very least Rove condoned the leaking of the information.

In other words, Rove had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. It's not illegal for Rove to say to someone "I'm glad she got outed" or "I don't care if she gets outed" any more than it would be illegal for either of us to say it. It only matters if Rove is the one that DID THE LEAKING.

Of course, it's virtually certain that Rove didn't even "condone" it to anyone. We already have all the proof in the world that Wilson is a virulent Clinton kneepadder and Bush-Hater, which means he's a Rove-Hater as well. So nothing Wilson says on this matter has any credibility.

Rush has his ear to the ground; he knows what is up. Something good must be on the horizon.

Look, I think that what the Dems want/need for their election prospects are a body. They need to get someone, ANYONE from the Bush administration to leave in shame. This would give them the ability to attack Bush's "Restoring Honor and Dignity to the White House" comments that so angered the Democrats. It was an attack on Clinton that the Dems could not defend against, and it was lethal.

They are going after Rumsfeld specifically, with attacks on others (especially Rice) to follow. All they have to do is get one person to leave in disgrace, and then it is open season on Bush. Without that, they have nothing on which they can attack Bush without it looking political.

Mason Gal, I understand about your stomach ache. I have been there, too. Try to relax and watch a movie instead of the cable show. That's what I do when I feel like I can't take anymore.

You posted what the light bulb over my head shouted a few minutes ago:

There is no doubt that this is a compromised man!!

This reminds me of a former UN inspector who got into bed with $oddomite and UDay and was a real PIA until we found out about his little girl fast food problem.

I too wish Bush would stop being quite so gentlemanly. We don't need to get in the gutter with the Rats, but a little history lesson wouldn't be out of order, here.

"I think I was probably carried away by the "spirit" of the moment."

He's probably a premature ejaculator and uses this excuse with his wife too.

The press must have hated it that Putin said if they hadn't joined the US in Afghanistan, there would have been a different outcome because he was approached by various countries(?), organizations(?) who wanted to fight against our soldiers there.

Huh? Was there a thread about this?

What was strange to me was why it was here and along side President Bush and no further explanation for his words.

This leaves little doubt that President Bush knew about whom he was speaking. Now these people know very well that the whole world is watching and Putin could have very easily sent a letter or phone call letting those he referenced get the picture.

One can with credibility make the claim that as leader of the free world the Clintons opposed removing terrorists.

"Karl Rove" vilification has traction with lefty political groupies, but no one else in the country.

The fact that Wilson focuses on Rove is not evidence, to me, or any link to Rove, but Wilson's mental link to the collective Democratic party angst.

Wait a minute. The headline says Novak says no one at WH called him. But the story says that he was interviewing a an administration offical. Is the point that "WH" does not equal 'administration"; ie. Administration may include WH but does not necessarily include WH.

Now I just heard Fred Barnes says that no one in WH toold him the info about the wife.

I don't know who in the Rat party came up with this stupid plot. Maybe it was Wilson himself, but the truth didn't take long to surface.

Let's see how long the Rats try to play this. My guess is that it's not sustainable for more than one more news cycle.

Fred Barnes on FNC now - WIlson's wife is NOT a spy and doesn't have a sensitive position in the CIA.
