You are insulting my intelligence...WAAAAAHHHHHH, WWWWAaaaaahhh, WAAaaaaahh, waaaaah... Now you've gone into major Hillary whiner mode!!! Now I'm positive McClintock is the wrong guy for CA gov. with whiners like you having fits over people on FR expressing their opinions. Insulting your intelligennce?!?! What a laugh!!! (Doesn't Carol Mosely Braun use that as one of her most powerful arguments too?
"Stop wanting my guy to not be the spoiller!!! You are hurting my feelings and insulting my intellegence! Waahhh!!!" Best argument I've heard yet for McClintock staying in... Don't want any Freepers w/ hurt feelings!

I keep trying to point out what is happening here that is so bad. In my time around FR ( 5-6 years ) the very FIRST time I was multi - flamed was on the first recall thread stating what my family's thoughts were reflecting a h*ll of a lot of Orange County Conservatives. Sad commentary considering these flames came from FReepers I THOUGHT were my political soul-mates.
Now let's look at the poll numbers......
40% Arnold
25% Bustagut
18% Tom
Given that Republican registration is only 40% of the electorate, close to HALF of all Republicans are identifying with the Conservative candidate. Say it's only 40& or one-third, doesn't matter. The point is is that the core of Conservatives THERE are being trashed by fellow Republicans. Sad for ALL in the party .... libs, middle of the roaders and Conservative.

I agree. In the last election for Governor of California there were candidates who "dropped out for the good of the Party." And now, a year later, the "winner" of that election is in the process of being recalled.
Why do something "for the good of the Party" when it is bad for the State of California?
This election is a wake-up call to change California. Tom is a man of his word, a rare quality for politicians these days.
Nothing in California is going to change with the dems or the RINOS in charge. Stay the course Tom!

"Republican who refuses to support the Republican team"
I think you have that backwards. The GOP have endorsed Arnold. Tom was not picked for the TEAM. So who's refusing to SUPPORT who ..??

That's because most of them are realists, not idealists.

I have seen that spin used on other posts tonight. The CA G.O.P. is trying to blame Tom for not supporting them. Victim excuse now. This is the third time in the last hour.

formally declare, here and now, my plan to conduct a slow burn, hard Rightist putsch, through the mass of the GOP. RINOs will lose. MEIN FUHER!

Arnold will win this race . . .Why is that? Is it because he favors strict gun cotrols? Is it because he wants to legitimize illegal aliens and pick up their education and medical expenses on the public dime? Is it because he will "never forgive" the Republican Party for supporting the impeachment of vile liar Bill Clinton? Maybe it's because sexual perversion fits his definition of wholesome family values and he supports every kinky definition of marriage and partnership that can be brainstormed? Or is it that he's given the "right wing crazies" their comeuppance for daring to suggest in a colorblind society government shouldn't be allowed to collect divisive race-related data on its citizens? Is it because he supports big government nanny programs such as elder-care, day-care, and sunaway public funding of the teachers union dominated education system?
Please tell me: what is the attraction of Arnold Schwarzenegger to a clear-thinking conservative anyway?

"Why is that?" (as if you didn't already know this)
Because KC, he (ARnold) is the better, stronger, more appealing candidate for most Californians. That won't change in the next week.

darned good advice

Kevin, I'm not going to argue with you. I was a 70s kid in LA, also. Lord knows I have skeletons in my closet. I think McClintock is a marvelous person, but, please get this: He can't win. There's no way he can win. There's no way he can win with even Bustamante. You are living in a dream world. I know CA. I lived there for years. The only person who can overtake Gray Davis and Bustamante is Arnold Schwarzenegger. He's the only one who can do it.
The McClintock supporters will be upset, I know. The man is a good person. I think Arnie will somehow give him the boost he needs to be the next Governor of CA. I don't think Arnie wants to make this a career choice. If you were him, would you stay in a job where the only place you could advance was to the US Senate? Give me a break. He would be bored to death with Fat Ted his uncle, for crying out loud.
I'm not saying Tom McClintock is a bad person. He just can't win this race.

The same could be said about "right-wing crazies". Another Prop 54 opponent?

Another Prop 54 opponent? You mean government by direct decoracy? I oppose that in all its forms. Conservatives don't like it.
To: Kevin Curry
The same as Rudy Giulliani's and an entire host of others. That you are incapable of understanding what Arnold's appeal is, to the majority of California's voters, is YOUR problem. No answers will help you, no answerrs will inform you, no answers will dispell your bias, and no answers are going to be good enough nor acceptable to you.
