Mr. Hanson talked about his book Mexifornia: A State of Becoming, published by Encounter Books. The book looks at the
hybrid culture emerging in California and which citizens benefit from different political stances.
It will air on C-SPAN1 @ 8PM (EDT) {Hey, you can afford to miss the beginning of the night NFL game} and will be rerun at 11 PM (EDT).
Mr. GARCIA from the 'Fresno Bee' disses the book
"Assimilation Blues' Review by James Q. Wilson
Hanson thinks this smacks of the NAZI's phrase: DAS VOLK (ie. Leftist Fascists).
He has reservations about having written the book and has mixed emotions on the subject.
Hanson laments the non-assimilation of recent aliens and the establishment of "Chicano Studies" in colleges. Hanson has challenged his students to drop racist labelling of individuals.
He says his daughters are dating boys of Mexican heritage.
Race is an "abstract concept" in California......he gives the example of Tiger Woods.
He thinks NOT discussing the problems arising from illegal immigration is amoral.
We have grown used to cheap labor; Mexico can use us as a safty valve; La Raza needs a constituency to help romaticize: This is Orwellian.
A Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) staffer gave him a long lecture on why he's a racist just before he went on the show.
He states Juaquin Marrietta (a folk hero/Robinhood figure in current Chicano Studies} was a mass-murderer and the Aztecs were savages. He says we don't say these things because you might affect someones 'self-esteem' and be labelled a racist.
Hanson illustrates the chaos that has evolved by giving the example of visiting the DMV of the High-Tech State of California which has some of most complicated laws governing vehicles in the US owing to environmental, and other, concerns and seeing illegals trying to fill out forms that they can't even read in THEIR OWN language (since they are illiterate) and sign forms with an 'X'.
LOL.
