Neither Jesus nor Paul EVER compromised their positions...

Where did I say they did ? My point is they went to where the people were literally and figuratively. Paul told the greeks their unnamed God was the God of the bible. He used their language and customs to win them over. The point is that you cannot pursuade someone unless you meet them where they are. That means if they are traveling in the wrong direction you have to go that way too communicate with them.

You still impugn them with your words. I understand your overall meaning that have to go out among the people and speak in language they understand. However, if you want converts, YOU DON'T WEAKEN YOUR POSITION BY TAKING THEIRS. Neither Jesus nor Paul ever compromised the message for converts... they either accepted or didn't. That lesson applies very well to our modern GOP.
