can someone explain to me what is so wrong about DRAFT??

what i understand is that when there is DRAFT!! those who support the troops would not mind being drafted to serve themselves!!

i support the troops and would not say no to being drafted

Hey Jerk- My Grandfather was drafted for WWI. He didn't like it. My Great Uncle was a priest and volunteered for WWII but came back bitter. My Moms Great Umcle Frank was at Iwo Jima and was drafted and was never right in the head again. So war hero- why not join up?

Yeah, I can. In the fewest possible words, it produces a poorer Army than the voluntary system does. Even during times when the US had the draft (the Civil War, WWI, and the period from 1940 through 1972, including WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Cold War) the best and most effective units were voluntary in nature.

I well recall the sergeants whose harrowing recollections of the draft era led them to give the volunteer army a fair shake, and ultimately to embrace it. The people who speak of a draft, like yourself, have not been in the Army during the last couple dozen years. I intend no insult to you or other draft promoters (some of whom are decorated veterans who served many years ago).

That's right enlist today - for the duration. Show the world how much you support the war.

As for the draft conscription is antithesis of liberty and a free society. Our government was formed as the servant of people and it is not their master. It has no right to coerce freemen into service.
