I agree. We should shame the Arab league into taking over with some help from the UN.
To: Chancellor Palpatine
How enlightening. Now we see the measure of his true mettle, and it isn't pretty.
I will keep this thread in mind when next I see his pontificating about military matters. Bah!
To: Burkeman1
Thank God- but if he was he would have sat in an air conditioned van with the 8 black guys he had trained with to look at aerial photos. What significance is race here?

Note: Saddy gassed the Kurds in the 80s when he was our ally and we were still supplying him weapons to fight with the Iranis In addition, UN inspectors reported that the type of gas used could have been from the Iranians.
This whole idea that we are going to get any thanks from interfering in Arab affairs is simply a dream. We should raise the award for capturing Saddam and push VERY hard to get him, then turn around and give this mess to the Arab league, and the UN to sort out. We will forever going to be hated as occupiers. Hence we might as well save our 200 billion to refurbish our own cities.

LF should be his home now.

So while I think Bush's domestic policy has been a disaster, I pretty much keep my yapper shut on the war.
I'm not really sure I understand that position. It's a disaster, but we shouldn't complain about it being a disaster?

Otherwise you need to follow the precepts of Founding Fathers and give up the empire. There is no "empire."

I joined because I wanted to serve my country. It's called patriotism. What you espouse is parasitic enjoyment of the American system without giving anything in return.
If I see you posting on military issues in the future, I'll be on you like white on rice. You're not qualified to have any input on the subject.
Are you saying that only those who served in the military can be patriotic, or are qualified to talk about issues that affect the entire nation? No offense, but if that's what you're saying, then that has to be one of the dumbest things I've seen posted on FR.
By the way, your statement about giving back to the country reeks of the kind of blind loyalty one would expect from someone living under communism.

I was merely responding to what someone else said, statist. It seemed he was saying that we shouldn't complain about our policy in Iraq even if it's a disaster.

It's a disaster, but we shouldn't complain about it being a disaster? I said his DOMESTIC policy was a disaster. I don't think the Iraqi War has been a disaster, although I worry that we are in danger of overreaching. Up to now, I think most of what has been done is justified.

Sorry. I stand corrected. His domestic policy has been a disaster, but asking for more money for nation-building in Iraq won't help much either.

False, idiotic, and disgraceful. IOW, the logical conclusion of the sort of anarcho-capitalist twaddle that's sold as deep thought these days...

FR has a small yet very noisy contingent of treacherous anarchists, who pipe on about secession in their quest to make America safe for anarchy.
