I personally think that given everything else in this debate, Schwarzenegger won the governor's office tonight with the "sign the back of the check" line. It's quite a tasty bit of rhetoric It IS a great line. To give political credit where due, however, Perot used it in '92.

To give political credit where due, however, Perot used it in '92. Really? In a debate? (Damn you're good...)

Arnold: "We have the worst business atmosphere anywhere in the nation. If we bring businesses back, we bring jobs back. Then can afford more programs, pay off the debt." "It is wrong for the states to go there and take half the property taxes away (from local government). The local people down at the ground know which programs they need." "On Oct 8th it's not going to Governor Wilson or Governor Bush, it's going to be Governor Arnold."

"Forester's Law holds that "in complicated situations, efforts to improve things often make them worse, sometimes much worse, on occasion calamitous. Those who have seized the leadership of the Democratic Party are practitioners of Forester's Law. They complicate our problems with government solutions that never seem to work. No matter how often a program fails, they prescribe more of the same-at higher cost." - Governor Ronald Reagan, Speech, Feb. 3, 1973.
