It's true that Bush offends some conservatives, especially Libertarians and money conservatives. But IMHO he has done as much as he can, given the political difficulties and a virulently hostile press. He has been sound on the basic issues.

Has Bush done as much as he can? I don't think so.

Didn't force resignation of many lower level Clinton appointees. This leads to entire rogue agencies like State Department.

He is supporting renewal of the Assault Weapon Ban.

He hasn't vetoed one bill.

He didn't fight for his court nominees very hard.

He hasn't used the bully pulpit for anything except the war in Iraq.

I guess he may have done as much as possible given that he really wants another term. But by then there will be another 10 million illegals in America, another 100,000 manufacturing jobs in China, another 100 bad gun laws, another percent or two of the GDP going to FedGov Inc.

Hasn't stepped in to do anything about Affirmative Action

He is a disapointment. I will vote for him again, of course because the alternative is so much worse. None of the 10 are worth a damn, and the Democratic party is one step away from being a Mafia.

We need to start now to find a solid conservative for '08 and not let the party machine and RINOs have too big a say.

Since when can Libertarians be considered conservatives?
