You beat me to it.
This 'officer and gentleman' leaves the army, goes to Syria to take Islam 101, and returns to the US and reups?
Seems pretty obvious he was sent back home to infiltrate the services and collect information.
Also, what chaplain has access to sensitive information?
May well be he is only a part of a well developed cabal of traitorous Muslims in the military whose job is to spy on this country and perhaps do, who knows what else?
One can screen every passenger boarding a commercial airline for everything from AK 47's to genital crabs, yet leave ourselves totally vulnerable to attack from a Muslim in the military. Heck, we teach those people how to fly airplanes and blow things up.
Time to put any Muslim in the military under careful scrutiny and make sure they are not in positions where they have access to secret material or can sabotage key installations.

Let us hope this story doesn't fade from the news. I'd really like to know who is telling what to these Muslims, why they think they can take over the world, and why they'd want to.
What are the 5 pillars of Islam? Is one of them Jihad?
I must do research!

OK, jihad is not a pillar. Live, research, and learn!

Also, what chaplain has access to sensitive information? I believe all info from the detainees would be considered classified.

Also, what chaplain has access to sensitive information? Pure wild a$$ guess on my part, but I suspect he was passing messages to and from those at Gitmo more than giving up info he had obtained elsewhere.

The chaplain doesn't -- but the Muslims he "ministers" to have access. He was chaplain of a signals battalion -- the guys who are in charge of communication and crypto gear.
The situation implies that his job was "spymaster": recruiting and running agents among the Army's Muslim community
