Welfare is a handout for which you get nothing in return. The US gets quite a bit in return from Israel. A reliable ally in a vital region, tech, military and intel support, to name just a few of the ways in which Israel gives back to the US. For all the dough the US gives Egypt for instance, we got Ayman Al Zawhiri, and Egyptians dancing in the street on 9-11.

Israel is America's greatest ally outside of Great Britian. And considering where they are located, the Middle East, maybe even a more important ally than the Brits.

They give us many things we need in return for our financial aid to them.

While I am not sure of the spirit of your comment, I going to do something surprising and agree.

Israel is entirely self-sufficient and does not accountable to anyone but herself.

The welfare payments are wholly unecessary, and one might wonder why they are an issue year after year. The payments beget obligations. Neither is truly necessary.
