Sorry about the confusion with the spiders. It was a long time ago that I saw that show - one of many "nature" shows that .45MAN and I watch almost constantly.

There were no snakes in Fairbanks, either - but I wouldn't recommend living there!
Had to caution my little boys to watch for the moose and caribou and bears and wolves that came through the yard to get to the Chena River to drink, a few blocks beyond us.

,,, yep, no snakes, no bears, no mountain lions and a 365 day hunting season. The real killer here is hypothermia. People underestimate the mountain weather. We have many varieties of deer and lots of wild pigs too - no limits on how many you can shoot either. Hunting permits are issued free of charge. We have Himalayan Thar in the higher parts of the South Island. Americans come down here expessly to bag those.
