Things are combative in Fresno, Calif., this week after the city's Human Relations Commission issued a press release describing "the Free Republic" as a "hate group" and warning of plans for a "Free Republic Hate Rally Picnic."

The Free Republic is a news Web site operated by Jim Robinson of Fresno, described as "an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the Web."

By your beliefs, anyone who doesn't worship like you is doomed to hell...No offense intended, that's just a basic fact...

Now...

Take a Priest, a Rabbi, a Monk, a Morman minister, a Budhist, a Muslim, my grandmaw, and a leader from any other religion.

I KNOW for a FACT that these good, God-fearing people believe theirs is the "One true faith". They are as sure about it in their heart of hearts as you are. There is NO DOUBT in their mind...NONE! And I don't doubt them, just like I don't doubt you.

But guess what? Only ONE of them CAN be "Right". And the rest must be wrong (And therefore didn't "Accept the truth" as you put it). And thus, they are going to burn in hell for all eternity according to you and your scriptures.

Guess what? My grandmaw...The absolute sweetest lady who's ever walked the face of this earth...The woman who sat with my grandfather 24 hours a day for 5 years as he died slowly from cancer...The woman who baby-sat my retarded sister so my mom and dad could work to pay for her medical expenses...The woman who even now, at her age, volunteers at the homeless shelter...The woman who takes care of her older girlfriends so they can save money...The woman who keeps POUNDS of candy around just in case the kids come over...The woman who is as "God Like" as any person I know...PLUS all the other good, God-fearing people I listed above, who are even CLOSER to God, are NOT going to burn in hell for all eternity. My God would not allow that just because they did not worship like you do.

And if he did...I don't want to be with him and you anyway. I'll hang with grandmaw and the rest of those good people, thank you.

Deputy Mayor Roger Montero said Monday that Reyes should resign. If she doesn't, he said, Council Member Cynthia Sterling should remove Reyes from the commission. Sterling appointed Reyes to the commission.

I have served on many appointed commissions and boards, and never had problems understanding the "serving at the pleasure" of the appointing body.
A letter dismissing her should be all that's necessary.

Oh yes, appointees who tend to abuse whatever power are given to them are easy to identify, and they reveal themselves quickly. Keep them at your peril.
