No sorry , wrong . THe late and GREAT Zevon died of an asbestosis type cancer . RIP. One of my few and favorite high school teachers, when asked by a moronic girl , why he smoked , told her that he enjoyed doing it. He went on to become Supt of Schools and had a new school with 5.000 pupils named after him. He died of cancer , panreatic cancer. RIP. A man like he could never enlighten your world.

I have to wonder if they actually KNOW that smoking killed these people, or do they just make that presumption since the deceased had smoked.

You've got that right, they never mention the age of all these people that are killed by smoking.

George Burns would be considered a smoking related death but just once in these "studies" I wish they would put down the ages.

We already know the answer to that question.

They didn't report incorrectly, they just put unrelated information in leading you to draw an inaccurate conclusion. Notice they don't say the smoking CAUSED the cancer, only that he smoked and also had cancer. I could take issue with the "lifelong" thing, somehow I doubt he was smoking from the minute he was born. He'd actually quit smoking for quite a while but when he got the diagnosis decided he had nothing to lose and started again.

Smoking must really be a VERY big issue for you Joe. You most certainly are rabid about the topic. Do you have children Joe? If so, do you honestly want them to smoke?

I turn 71 today. Just got back from a nice vacation in Colorado, have a good life, and have smoked since I was 18.

Got to go have a cigarette now and wish myself a happy birthday. No fear of dying prematurely---LOL.

Rabid? No.
Informed? Yes.
Which seems to be more than you.

Rabid about smoking bans? Yes! Smoking bans are not about smoking or not smoking. Smoking bans are about government control of private property.

Would I want my children to smoke? It's their choice. I've told them that I enjoy smoking, that I wouldn't smoke if I didn't enjoy it.
I've also told them that not everyone enjoys smoking and not everyone enjoys anyone smoking.
I've also told them about private property rights and socialistic governments.

And why is it any of your business? Do you not participate in any single activity that could, possibly, based on some studies, shorten your life span? Think carefully, if you're willing to believe too many studies then eggs, milk, caffiene, red meat, lack of red meat, bread, and hifructose corn syrup are all KILLERS and if you ingest ANY of them you're reducing your lifespan by YEARS and maybe even DECADES.

So maybe you ought to get your own house in order before hassling other people.

Happy birthday. Both my granfathers smoked. One smoked Camels lived to 85 had worked in shipyards during WWII (probably exposed to asbestos there and US Steel after war) . The other smoked Pall Mall and lived to 91 worked in the coal mines and later cotton mill. I smoke Vantage but I'm thinking of changing to Pall Mall.
