DeGraff, a member of Peace Fresno, said he read messages on the Web site that stated Free Republic members were armed and "extremely violent." ... After listening to DeGraff, the HRC decided to write a letter to police, Catalano said. And Reyes later decided to send the news release, warning of the "hate group."

Any notion of a slander or libel suit here? Though it sounds like the City of Fresno is appropriately trying to reprimand the kooks, you do seem to have a case here.

As much as I hate to say it, it sounds like it's time for every Freeper who attended that event to lawyer-up and pile on the lawsuits against the individuals who had anything to do with that announcement. This is defamation of character.

Just exercising our Constitutional rights, sir. Unlike some people, we don't object if others do the same.
