Rock star Bruce Springsteen called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush at a nearly sold-out concert at FedEx Field just outside of Washington, DC tonight. During the introductions of his back-up band, The E Street Band, Springsteen said of saxophonist Clarence Clemons, "It's time to impeach the president and get a man in there to get us out of this mess." The audience cheered in response.
At a recent concert at Fenway Park in Boston, Springsteen touted liberal comedian Al Franken's new book and encouraged people to read it. In the Spring, Springsteen issued a statement defending the Dixie Chicks after they told a foreign audience that they were "ashamed that the President of the United States was from Texas."
At least Springsteen chose to make his statement about impeaching President Bush in the nation's capital. However, his timing just two days after the nation marked the second anniversary of the September 11 attacks is sure to make his remarks even more controversial than otherwise, especially because the nation's capital was a target.
Springsteen was silent during the eight years of Bill Clinton's presidency: A time when children were gassed and burned to death at Waco; our national security was betrayed to the communist Chinese government in exchange for millions of dollars for Clinton's campaign coffers; and when Clinton lied under oath and obstructed justice in a civil rights lawsuit filed by one of the "little people" that Springsteen champions.
Springsteen's current album and tour are based on the September 11 attacks and he has several songs about the bravery of those who gave their lives responding to those attacks. Springsteen's tour is scheduled to end at the beginning of October with three dates at New York City's Shea Stadium.

"More than a year ago. Springsteen was angered by the shooting death of a West African immigrant (he wrote a song about the incident called 47 shots) and the infamous "toilet plunger" attack on another by the NYPD. This was all pre-9/11. "
He hid out until the Dims and the media proved that attacking Bush was safe. Little bitch.
Using patriotism in the 80's, Bush dis in 2003 to make $. Its ALWAYS about the $ with Bruce. He has his blind fans thinking its NEVER about the $$ for him.
When I was 16, I saw thru this.

Pehaps he is daring the public to do a "Dixie Chicks" on the all-mighty himself.

You'll also find that W didn't fire all of the US Attorneys in the country, unlike what the sick evil impeached pervert from Arkansas did on the unholy day he took office. Just another example of what makes us better than them. Come again? Fire the communists.

I seen a Springsteen interview years ago and this guy's brain has gone the Ozzy Osborne route.
I was thinking the other day what the world would be like if say in 1950's laws was past in USA and England where entertainers and singers would be required to get drug tested before performances and would be banned for life if found positive.

"Born in the USA" is a patriotic song, but if you listen to what he's actually singing about it's clear that it's not patriotic in a conventional way.
Springsteen has always been on the liberal side of the street for the entireity of his career; it's about money, but he's not a chameleon like some singers. I can respect that.

Just who in the hell does he think he is?
I'm not sure who he thinks he is, but in reality, he is the most overated singer/songwriter of all time. His entire career has been fueled by having the cover of both newsweek and time in the same week in 1976 declaring him the new bob dylan. He is one of the dumbest celebs I've ever heard interviewed

What did he purpose as the action to take after 9/11? Give peace a chance with terorists who want to kill us all and managed to murder ~3,000 innocent people?Yes, but he didn't know any of those people, so they couldn't have been too damn important.
Lieberals have this daffy idea that waging war against anyone, even people sworn to lose their lives taking all of ours they can, is wrong. I guess they think if we just treat terrorists "nice", maybe they'll hug us and kiss us and love us...Schmucks.

If you ever heard the version of it he did on "Live in New York City" two years ago (recorded at MSG a few months before 9/11), it's easy to tell that "Born in the USA" is not patriotic. He did it acoustically and really let it rip. It's another "America sucks, corporations suck, Vietnam sucked, I suck" song.
I like Springsteen as an artist, "Live in New York City" is one of my favorite albums, I don't give much of a Rat's ass about his political opinions. Laura Ingraham did say it best--"Shut Up And Sing," Bruce.

Wonder if he pulled this same S#$% in Chapel Hill, NC where he was in concert tonight.
This makes me glad that I've always hated Springsteen's voice (or lack thereof).

"Born in the USA" isn't a patriotic song. It's an anthem to the working class hero, the disenfranchised etc. But that's Springsteen's forte: his anthems to the dispossessed, the disillusioned, and the fight against all the odds even if you know you'll wind up on the losing end.
Grew to love Springsteen's music going back to the beginning. It seems to me that he became this phenomenon with "Born in the USA." I liked it but I think his real brilliant stuff preceded it. I think his career actually has been in a downturn since "Born in the USA."
