FR EXCLUSIVE: Springsteen Called For Impeachment of President Bush at DC Concert
Kristinn | September 13, 2003 | Krsitinn via Angelwood

Rock star Bruce Springsteen called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush at a nearly sold-out concert at FedEx Field just outside of Washington, DC tonight. During the introductions of his back-up band, The E Street Band, Springsteen said of saxophonist Clarence Clemons, "It's time to impeach the president and get a man in there to get us out of this mess." The audience cheered in response.

At a recent concert at Fenway Park in Boston, Springsteen touted liberal comedian Al Franken's new book and encouraged people to read it. In the Spring, Springsteen issued a statement defending the Dixie Chicks after they told a foreign audience that they were "ashamed that the President of the United States was from Texas."

At least Springsteen chose to make his statement about impeaching President Bush in the nation's capital. However, his timing just two days after the nation marked the second anniversary of the September 11 attacks is sure to make his remarks even more controversial than otherwise, especially because the nation's capital was a target.

Springsteen was silent during the eight years of Bill Clinton's presidency: A time when children were gassed and burned to death at Waco; our national security was betrayed to the communist Chinese government in exchange for millions of dollars for Clinton's campaign coffers; and when Clinton lied under oath and obstructed justice in a civil rights lawsuit filed by one of the "little people" that Springsteen champions.

Springsteen's current album and tour are based on the September 11 attacks and he has several songs about the bravery of those who gave their lives responding to those attacks. Springsteen's tour is scheduled to end at the beginning of October with three dates at New York City's Shea Stadium.

Springsteen is a good rock musician.

So what?

Pop culture belongs to the left. It is the tool they use to induct soft minds into their ideology. There should be NO surprise over this. There are plenty of beautiful women that have minds full of the leftist drivel and hearts that are as sick a the Clintons. A shapely package doesn't certify the wholesomeness of the product within. Springsteen is a skin bag full of pus with a danceable beat.

Believe it or not, this is the official photo. He doesn't look much like a source of wisdom to me.

Any specifics on why Bush should be inpleached other than "getting us out of this mess"? What did he purpose as the action to take after 9/11? Give peace a chance with terorists who want to kill us all and managed to murder ~3,000 innocent people? Do these entertainers EVER think?

I have never, ever seen the appeal in this guy. His whiney mumbling incoherent ramblings were supposed to save R&R twenty years ago.

Hope his next gig's at the Howard Johnsons with the Chixy Dicks.

Knut Hamsun and Céline were fans of Hitler. You can't expect artists to have good political judgment. But that doesn't mean artists with bad political judgment can't be good artists.

Is it true that Bruce Springsteen is carrying David Letterman's baby?

Your explanation makes a lot of sense, but somehow I think that the original Fabian had more class (and just as little talent, incidentally) than to propose during a Dick Clark All Star Jamboree in 1958:

"Let's impeach President Eisenhower and get this nameless Philadelphia hack behind me in there!"

"I agree. He is a no talent, two bit, flash in the pan, piece of garbage."

While I don't agree with his politics, history kinda shows he isn't a flash and his sales shows someone must think he has talent. Piece 'o garbage...maybe!

No offense meant to either of you. My entire extended family lives in South Jersey and I know they share your frustration. Personally, I love the place. Practically grew up there. Just politically, it leaves much to be desried.

And, Sunny, no you don't have the market cornered on electing a-holes. I live in California, so I know we've got you beat on that one.

Thanks to the author for not referring to Springsteen as a musician. Grunting cavemen know more about music than he.

ACK! He looks like a stoned-out bum!!

I have a sneaking suspicion that, if you pulled off the Born in the USA label, you'd find a permanent label: Made in United Arab Emerates (sp?).

September 12, 2003 Still the Boss at the box office QUICK TAKES: It's a big payday for The Boss. The 10 sold-out shows for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Giants Stadium this summer will bring his production company more than $36 million, according to the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, which operates the stadium.

He can choke on that 36 million for all I care ..

I'm am still sick and tired of their crap.

I just got home from that concert. I can tell you that only a small part of the crowd cheered. He said it twice because he didnt get much response the first time.

It was clearly not a popular position with this crowd. He seemed to have more of a bone up his butt about Dick Cheney who he mentioned several times.
