Thanks for bringing this post back into my focus. I thought I had responded.

My first instinct would be to say, I have no problem not understanding the specifics of any given passage in Scripture. My past experience is that passages that give me trouble are resolved by praying for wisdom concerning the issue.

Thus far God has been faithful to sustain my faith by producing answers either through the Word, circumstances, discussion with other Christians, and often by something that is said by someone who is not a believer. Most frequently, I seemingly stumble upon a passage of Scripture that deals more clearly with the topic.

Ultimately, Jesus is the person I filter all of my feelings, thoughts and beliefs through. When a person begins to have a better knowledge of the entire Bible, the miraculous integrity forces one to acknowledge that it has been inspired by one intellegence.

66 books by 40 authors that is seamless in it's history, spiritual consistancy, and focus on the person of Jesus Christ, forces the student to acknowledge the supernatural nature of it's contents.

So if evidence appears to contradict scripture, I chalk it up to my ignorance and am forced to accept the evidence at face value to maintain intellectual honesty. Evidence that I have been exposed to so far that was an apparent contradiction to scripture has not been broad enough to nullify the Word, and has been worked out by God to my satisfaction.
