"Cantore's eyes looked a bit wild also. Perhaps they had a toast together. Or a snoot."

South Carolina and North Carolina are suffering economically, so we cannot afford to have a hurricane slam into the coast.

Maybe the Grey Man of Pawley's Island will protect you.

Stay dry. My thoughts are with you.

Right now and for the next week, Hurricane Isabel IS our Arafat, Sadam H. and Osama. Especially for those of us who lived through Hugo and Andrew - this storm is frightens me more than they do.

Last I heard, 11:03, it's starting to make a turn. Hugo and Andrew wobbled just like this.

It's still so dang early - too far out for landfall predictions to be really reliable.

LOL!

Now, now, they are just weather junkies. Cantore always gets that wild look in proportion to the storm. I don't think I've ever seen anybody get as excited as he does when it comes to extreme weather.

have a great vacation.

Thanks, we're looking forward to it.

my ex-wife just spent all my money on a beach house up there

What a coincidence, my current wife has plans on spending all our money at Barefoot Landing Mall.

I remember that '93 storm. In central Virginia we got 12 or 13 inches of snow. Over in the mountains past Roanoke, more toward Bristol and over into WV and TN, they got more like four feet. The Interstates were closed and travelers stranded for days. And yet, compared to the coasts and to the folks that got hit by ice storms, a foot of snow meant we got off lucky.

Then there were the back-to-back 12" snows that hit Richmond in '96. I was stuck in my apartment for two days until four maintenance guys helped me get my pickup out of the sloped parking space I'd had to move into, when somebody swiped the nice level one I'd carefully cleared off. :)

It won't hit that far north, most likely between Savannah and Charleston.

I love reading Gary Gray's Trantech stuff. He's not afraid to let you know what he's thinking. Nice to have an alternative to the TCP, even if he uses their data.

Neil Frank also used to get extremely excited just thinking about hurricanes. It was fun watching him.
