You're missing the bigger picture by thinking only of this one case, though this is important litigation for the culture of death, to be sure.
A person who is disabled or considered mentally incompetent has the right to die, whether they want to or not, as long as someone speaking on their behalf agrees.
Very soon the someone "speaking on their behalf" will no longer be required, actually.
Are you aware that the president of the Vermont Medical Society recently killed an elderly woman, with no request from her or her family to have her life ended? He injected her with a drug which causes muscle paralysis and she died within minutes.
No criminal action was taken. He stepped down from his position but was given another executive position with the Vermont Medical Society. End of story.
It's not supposed to be a big deal to kill people who are elderly, disabled, or considered mentally incompetent. This killing happens quite often. It is only in cases where the family is split over the choice that we hear about it.

It's "Greer", BTW - he seems to be a stubborn old man who's gotten his back up and refuses to consider that he may have been wrong all along. I think that's more likely than that he is conspiring with Schiavo & Felos, which has been suggested by some people.
