Every vote that comes FROM Arnold and TO McClintock is a net gain of two over Arnold. McClintock has lost track that the objective is to beat the Democrat, not other Republicans in the field. Even if he could beat Arnold it would be a phyric victory. To govern, you have to beat the Democrat.
He can't even beat Arnold with Republicans, much less with the general electorate.
I've been looking at the demographic breakdowns of the latest SURVEYUSA poll, and found these figures:
REPUBLICANS
AS %56
TM 25
CONSERVATIVES
AS %51
TM 24
MODERATES
AS %39
TM 13
http://www.surveyusa.com/2003_Elections/CA030909RecallReplace.pdf The only groups where Bustamante beats Schwarzenegger are democrats and self-described liberals. AS at %40 is within the margin of error with Bustamante's %43 Hispanic support.
