Doubtful. You've got to remember the Republican machine that got Arnie into the game in the first place and the initial support of Bush for Riordian. I doubt that the Republican party leadership would support McC for anything. Now if there's a primary involved, the grassroots may be able to get him through, but it's by no means a sure thing. (In other words, you might be able to hope for something like the last primary for governor, but not if you just assume it'll happen.)

You’ve got to make it up before you can remember it.

The “Republican Machine” did not want Arnold in the race. They’ve had to adjust to the fact that he was going to do it despite their resistance to the idea.
