California GOP Insiders: McClintock Will Drop Out

California GOP Insiders: McClintock Will Drop Out Eric Leonard, NewsMax.com Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 LOS ANGELES – Leading elected Republicans have made it clear for the first time the party will stand behind only one candidate in the recall election to ensure a victory over Democrat Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante. Neither state Sen. Tom McClintock's nor Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaigns say they are considering dropping out of the race, but results from the most recent Field Poll, coupled with GOP pressure, point towards McClintock being asked to "take one for the team," insiders say.

"I believe we're going to have one candidate," said Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., during an appearance today on CNN.

He said the party's decision would likely be made during the state's Republican Party convention this weekend in Southern California.

"I'm going to the convention to bring the party together. I'm confident we're going to get to one candidate," Issa said.

Hours earlier, California Republican Party chairman Duf Sundheim made similar comments during an interview on Fox News Channel.

While McClintock has been more closely aligned with the Republican Party's traditional philosophies, Schwarzenegger continues to lead with voters, according to the most recent Field Poll.

The poll revealed little change in voter support now that Peter Ueberroth, a Republican who said he was running as an independent, quit the race.

With Ueberroth out, Schwarzenegger went from 25 to 27 percent, McClintock from 13 to 14 percent, and Bustamante from 30 to 32 percent.

However, with McClintock out, Schwarzenegger vaults into the lead over Bustamante.

I intend to watch because O'Reilly is a huge anti-illegal proponent. I don't think he'll softball any questions and I want to hear how Arnold responds, since this issue has been ducked and dodged.

Now that sounds like a damn good plan to me.

Not a great plan. But a workable solution to a problem on a par with the governorship: that is, getting those two dingbat debutantes out of the Senate. It is truly amazing to me that the people of California may have elected these two clymers. It had to be fraud, at least in part. I cannot see any legal latino, man and especially woman, actually voting for either of these two mandatory abortion, anti-christian millionaire bimbos from Hell.

Although I must admit that Barbara Boxer has at least one attribute: she is so goddam stupid she makes even Feinstein look smart.

I would have to say that so called Conservatives are the ones who agree witht he likes of Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Alan Colmes, Geraldine Ferraro, and the Dixie Chicks that all love McClintock.

I'll read the thread or comments later.

I don't watch O'Really O'Reilly more than once a blue moon anyway... nothing personal but he just isn't my cup of tea.

Thanks ;-)

"For just signing up today, you have certainly been more contentious on every thread, than helpful. Can't you just discuss the issues without the flames?"

It's in Bustamecha's best interest to assure that McClintock remains a tool for the Democrats and to stay in the election.

If McClintock drops out, WITHOUT major concessions from RiNOld, then McClintock voters will have no reason to go to the polls - and Davis will win.

If they don't (goto the polls) then they are crap Republicans, and who would want them on the team? Not me. Bunch of crybabbies. And Davis will be RECALLED one way or another so they just be handing the state to Bustamante.

What does the above mean? Any chance you could reference the previous remark to which your are responding to, so that the rest of us don't have to page back 49 previous responses?

I predict they'll trot out somebody to accuse him of sexual assault/rape.

If they do that, he'll win the democrat vote. The tactic sure worked for the Stainmeister.

You wrote: ain't gonna happen. I promise.

What "ain't gonna happen"

When you have possibly a few hundred responses, it's not a bad idea to italicise the response to which you will subsequently respond.

Christians are admonished to be in the world, not of it. In addition, we are admonished to be good stewards and allowing Bustalefty to be guv is not good stewardship.

That is truly an astonishing leap of self-justification.

So, you're saying that it is our Christian duty to support the admitted extreme liberal Arnold Schwarzenegger?

I think you need to spend some time thinking and praying about your position.

Just my opinion.

Ola tonto. Don't you realize that the massive registration drive in Mexifornia will lead to the most polluted voter roll in the history of this nation?

Ahnolt might get a lot of new voters who are alive and legally registered, but the Mexican steamroller is being fueled as we speak. Take the Loretta Sanchez fraud and multiply X 10,000. Add a splash of spineless Republicans who will not fight fraud at any cost, and Buster could take this one even if he were running against Christ and Pancho Villa.

Do you not know that Gore carried this state by fraud? That it is likely that Huffington lost by fraud? That it is definite that blowhard b-1 Bob Dornan was kicked out of congress by fraud? That Señorita Parra sits in the Mexifornia legislature by fraud?

Joe Gomez, American Citizen, votes for Schwarznegger, maybe. Illegal alien José Gomez y Gonzalez, same address, votes for Buster. José Gonzalez y Gomez, same address, votes for Buster. José Gomez de Gonzalez, same address, votes for Buster. José Gonzalez de Gomez, same address, votes for Buster. Of course, this totally ignores the absentee ballots and the 2 or 3,000 dead Joe Gomez's who are dead in California, but are still registered and voting. For guess who?

When it comes to voter registration in California, be careful what you wish for. For every valid voter registered, there will be many illegally registered, and many fictitious voters created. Study how Loretta Sanchez did it. That's the model that's going statewide.

Will Not raise taxes (pledges are worthless)
Does not support gay marriage

I wish you guys would just drop the propaganda or look out from under your collective rocks. Schwarzenegger is a world apart from Bustamante. And miles closer to beating Bustamante than McClintock is capable of.

Geesh.
