Yours is cooler. :o)

It's all I could see when I first looked at your pictures of Mars. Did a quick Google for cowboy on horse and found just the shot I wanted. Kind of eerie.

I wish I would've had a telescope last week.

Doesn't one of Mars moons orbit the opposite of basically the entire universe? Clockwise?

BTW, I don't like being told I'm wrong! LOL!

Okay; we know you're hiding the "Face on Mars" images to protect your space alien pals...... what's-his-name Richard C. Hoagland, ex-NASA employee and erstwhile champion of crank-science, said so on the Not-Art-Bell-Anymore Overnight Freak Show....

Uhhhh.... Nope

Phobos: 28 km long & 20 km wide
Deimos: 16 km long & 10 km wide
Orbits at about 3 and 7 planetary radii
(Earth's Moon orbits at about 60 radii)
Both orbit synchronously
tidally locked, like the Moon
Both orbit prograde direction
Phobos orbits in 7 hours 59 minutes
Deimos orbits in 30 hours 18 minutes

Late at night, many times I used to listen to his show in the control room :-)

Made the night go faster. :-)

Admit it - you guys are running outside and spelling out dirty words with the cars in the parking lot, and then shooting pictures from space, aren't you?

"Geeks gone wild!" I love it!!! RA, I think they've finally got you pegged. :^)

Thought you may be interested. Took this shot last Saturday night.

This was the best of about 50 exposures.

Along with the polar ice cap, some faint surface detail can be seen. Used the manual focus on the telescope, and it was tedious and critical. An electronic focuser is in the near future.

Getting ready to go to a CCD imaging format next, including a modified webcam where hundreds of the same image can be stacked in a software program. This stacking process can bring out unbelievable resolution and detail. Many amateurs are now experimenting with these inexpensive modified webcams and software.

This shot isn't Hubble, but I was happy to get at least one with surface detail.
