I think the flange housed or captured the locking mechanism. The collar could just be a modified triclover fitting. The locking device is entirely homegrown IMHO, making it harder to trace.

I think the cops are going to do everything they can to pin this on the pizza guy and close their investigation as quickly as possible.

Last night on CBS news some major honcho investigator guy (didn't catch which organization but maybe FBI) said there was a strong possibility, perhaps 80 percent, that the dead man was innocent of wrongdoing.

Putting aside this dumb comment it is possible to use logic to arrive at possibilities.

Either the bomb was done by the man or by someone else. If it was done by someone else it wasn't a good way to rob a bank. The man could lead them back to the bad guy too easily. So, if it wasn't for robbing the bank it was done to make a statement or out of pure sadistic tendencies. No statement was reported so if it was done by someone else it was for pure evil sadistic pleasure and its likely such an animal will strike again.

The second possibility is it was done by the man himself. If the man wanted to commit suicide he may have had a reason to hide it. Reasons to hide it could be financial or emotional. He may not have wanted a friend or family member to know or he may have wanted to a suicide to look like a murder for insurance purposes.

If I had to place a bet my bet would be that the man had a suicide pact with the other worker but wanted to make his death appear to be from a murder and not a suicide. I would look to recent insurance policies and whether these two guys had aids or something.

How was the pizza man so sure that the bomb was going to go off any minute? How was he even sure that it was a real bomb?

If the pizza guy was the patsy in this, then I would speculate that it was the manner and voice used by his 'controller', as well as showing him the remote detonation device (we assume there was one?). If I saw a collar like that, and one or more guys locked it on my neck, showed me other devices, etc. and pointed me out the door and told me to rob a bank, What would I do?

(1)Rip the collar off and head to the police department

(2)Do as they said, assuming anything that complicated was probably real

METHINKS PROBABLY number TWO.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Perhaps he remembers her speaking of psychology?

AIDS ain't the death sentence it once was. With drug cocktails, some people have been able to keep it at bay.

It is odd the other fellow killed himself, however, this could be anything from general psyche trauma to they were gay and the senseless death of his lover pushed (the other) him over the edge.

All speculation at this point.

But I did see it mentioned the victim had three cats.

I wonder what their role in this was????

No, _Jim is in charge of Whitehouse basement operations, overseeing certain internet websites, and providing the government version of stories for supplication by the masses.

Right, _Jim?

There was a collar scene in The Wild Wild West too where if Will Smith or Kevin Klein stepped outside a square, a buzz saw blade would home in on the collars and cut their heads off.

Before things get really out of hand, I would like to say that I really have no knowledge of what _Jim does for a living.

I have been in discussions with _Jim before, especially the TWA800 threads, and _Jim does seem to take the Federal or Government line. Perhaps he is in some position in government, and therefore has information we do not have. Perhaps that information is right, perhaps it is wrong.

I do know that, like all other posters here, the opinions are varied, and that is what makes it interesting.

So, _Jim, I may not like or agree with your opinion, but you have just are much right to it as anyone else does to their opinion.

And you have must as much priviledge to post on this website as anyone else.

I was teasing you, with my remarks, as I feel an old familiarity with you and your line of reasoning. I look forward to your input, so don't let my remarks or anyone else's stop you.

A compilation of Jim's posts have shown the use of phrases such as "Student"......"I'll check your work"......."Occam's Razor"......"Arriving at an answer"....."Mental State"(and combining mental state with Occam's Razor is not very consistant)..... Jim is a faculty memeber somewhere. I just can't pin it down. His comments on state of mind indicate a psychology discipline.

Former FBI. He likened the tactic to the work of terrorists (Columbians use this in fundraising, generally ransom).

Any single guy with three cats is definitely gay.

I find it interesting to see how many editors did a lousy job with this story.

Some have said that the bomb was strapped to his chest (appears to have been on the collar, not the chest).

Others have said that he died trying to rob a bank. He did successfully rob the bank. He was apprehended afterwards.

It's like when I read that Atta played pinball the night before the 9.11 attacks. Later it was "confirmed" that he had played the Golden Tee "pinball game". Golden Tee is a video game golf simulator, not a pinball machine (but the journalists got it in there head that was what he played).

Facts don't mean much to reporters. Good enough for government, it seems. Heck, sometimes they even go to the scene of the event to get some details. The rest of the time they phone it in.

Not true! I've had 3 cats for decades, and my lover would box your ears for calling me gay. In fact, I'm telling him when he gets off of work.

Its not just the reporter its the editor too. My daughters' name is similar to Jennifer. A reporter once took her name down very carefully to include in a story. The story reported her name as Jennifer.

I figured the editor probably thought the reporter was wrong and changed it.
