Iran's ex-diplomat remanded in custody in London

LONDON, Aug 29 (AFP)--- A British court ruled Friday to remand in custody a former Iranian ambassador to Argentina detained on an extradition request from Buenos Aires which accuses him of taking part in a 1994 bombing that killed 85.

Iran-EU-Solana in Tehran to discuss regional, int'l issues Tehran

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana arrived here Friday night to discuss issues of mutual interest. Upon arrival, Solana told reporters that the visit aims to review the two sides' views in order to reach consensus on regional and international issues as well as the latest developments in Iraq. "I had constructive talks with senior Iranian officials during my last visit to Iran and I will hold meetings with Iranian officials at various levels to expand mutual relations between Iran and the European Union," he said. He added that he is expected to hold talks with President Mohammad Khatami, Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi and a number of other senior Iranian officials. During Solana's visit to Tehran, the two sides will discuss nuclear issues, establishment of peace in the region and various key international developments to reach a consensus based on common views, he noted. He expressed deep regret over the martyrdom of the leader of the Supreme Assembly of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq......

Argentina redeems itself (from the horrors of its past) while Iran continues on the course it set in 1979.

Just as in Argentina, the chickens will come home to roost.

Repentence followed by redemption is a good thing. But it's a dark passage to get there.
