For the third time in two months, Jerusalem police announced they are restricting entry to Friday prayers at the Temple Mount mosques to men over 45, after receiving intelligence alerts over possible violence at the site.
The ban came several days after a group of some two dozen Wakf officials and Muslim worshipers tried to prevent the entry of Jewish visitors to the bitterly contested site, in the first such confrontation since the mount was reopened to non-Muslim visitors on August 20.
Fearing Palestinian violence, the site had been off-limits to Jewish and Christian visits for nearly three years.
Two of three senior members of the Wakf, the Islamic religious trust, who took part in the scuffle with police this week were subsequently ordered to stay away from the site for the next two months.
Thousands of Jewish and Christian visitors have peacefully toured the ancient compound, which is also Judaism's holiest site, since its reopening 10 days ago.
Of course any Muslim can walk into any Jewish or Christian holy place. In fact, Muslim terrrorists could take over the Church of the Nativity for weeks and hold Christians hostage just daring the IDF to blast the Church, which they didn't although Muslims trashed the place. But of course, what's good for the Muslim goose isn't good for the Christian, Jewish, Hindu....gander.
