FLORIDA RIGHT TO LIFE DECLARES CIRCUIT JUDGE GREER SIGNS DEATH WARRANT TO KILL TERRI SCHIAVO

The following statements can be attributed to Mr. Bob Touchston, President, Florida Right to Life.

“On August 8, 2001, Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer ruled that a disabled woman, Terri Schindler-Schiavo, should be killed. Apparently, the disabled have no voice in Judge Greer’s courtroom. Where is the American’s With Disabilities Act when you need it? She has until August 28, at 3:00 p.m. to live. At which time, unless a higher court intervenes, her feeding tube will be removed and she will be starved to death. Once the feeding tube is removed, it literally takes days for the person to starve to death.

With a stroke of a pen, Judge Greer has decided that the life of Terri Schiavo isn’t worth the fluids it takes to sustain her life. Judge Greer didn’t mix a concoction of fluids for her to ingest. However, he did mix a potion of questionable legal mumbo jumbo, which rendered Mrs. Schiavo helpless. Judge Greer, how would you react, sir, if that were your wife or daughter? You would use your vast resources and political connections to ensure that your loved one would have the protection every living human being deserves. Let me make this perfectly clear, Mrs. Schiavo is not in a persistent vegetative state; and she is not terminally ill—she is simply disabled! Additionally, the parents of Terri Schiavo have been denied the right to present witnesses or expert testimony on her behalf.

Nowhere else in the world is the “culture of death” more prevalent than in the courtroom of Judge Greer. In the Constitution of the United States, (the document upon which this country is based) it affirms that every citizen has the unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Nowhere, sir, does it give you the power to terminate the life of a disabled person. Judge Greer would deny the opportunity for Mr. and Mrs. Schindler, the parents of Terri Schiavo, to care for their daughter?

With the greatest sense of urgency we ask each and every person who holds life to be precious to voice his or her objections in the strongest terms possible. Florida Right to Life holds that life is precious from conception to natural death--every person, including the disabled.”

Why do FL voters hold this George Greer in such esteem? Is that whole state blind? Some couldn't tell the difference in a Gore and a Buchanan ballot spot three years ago.
