"When one acknowledges that Jesus is the messiah, then that person has abandoned his faith for another."
Sorry Mark, but you're wrong...I have not stopped being a Jew by accepting Christ as my savior. That is not conjecture. It is a simple fact. I attend a Baptist church, but that doesn't mean that I never darken the door of synagogue. It also doesn't mean that I have ceased my prayers or in any other way discarded my heritage.

I think Christianity is the completion of Judaism, the fullness of it. Judaism is the foundation of God's plan of salvation through Messiah.
I had trouble with the Trinity, too. One of the things that helped me (albeit very rudimentary) was to think of myself as one person with three aspects: physical, mind, spirit. We are made in His image. I believe God, being God, can separate the three for His purposes.
If Jesus is not Messiah, why did God stop acting in history through the nation of Israel (chosen to bring forth the Savior of the world) as He had until Jesus' first coming?

I have not stopped being a Jew by accepting Christ as my savior. And no true Christian should expect you to abandon your heritage. How could you anyway?
I've listened to some JFJ speakers, and found them to be right on track with the New Testament Gospels. The insight from their heritage greatly enriches their Gospel presentation. Who could honestly disagree with their mission?
Like the flak Mel Gibson's "PASSION" movie is receiving, the resistance JFJ is experiencing validates its mission. The unrepentant world always has and always will hate Jesus' efforts to redeem His lost sheep.
