Regarding the monument, I note that Judge Moore has also placed near the statute texts from secular sources, including the words of Frederick Douglass that slavery was tantamount to "hiding from the laws of God." And quotes from other sources indicating the moral foundation of law. So while the commandments rest supreme, the monument and plaques -- at least according to press reports -- include other texts also.

Are those press reports accurate? When you saw the Ten Commandments, did you see other plaques or quotes on or near the monument? Or how did it seem to you?

I'm just curious.

The doors were locked when we got there and I regret that I could only see the monument from a distance.

Here is a great site with the answers to all your questions about the monument.
