Is anyone here from Mississippi? My grandmother was, and she made an extraordinary rice pudding. I know she used sweetened canned milk and raisins, but have never got a rice pudding to turn out like hers. I suspect it has to do with ingredients somehow. The difference between what was available in her day and now mine. But my mouth waters just thinking about that pudding/

I have tasted that and it is good. My mother made alot of stuff with sweetened condensed milk and I got to lick the can. After I grew up I used to buy cans and eat it by the spoonful. Now they make chocolate sweetened condensed,,I gotta try that. We had a cow when I was little and mother made real butter,,I was so sad as I wanted the fancy margarine from the store. And both parents drank buttermilk. And mother thought a "hot toddy" cured everything from a marriage problem to cramps,,she once delived one to me at college when I was sick. My kids laugh that I gave them hot toddys and used liquor as a medicinal agent,,creme de menthe cures most childhood ailments!
