Detroit builds cars with built in obsolescence either in styling or durability. If cars lasted longer and styling remained similar, new car sales would drop and they might as well turn out the lights in Detroit.

My Buick has 167,000/ starts and runs great. The Chevy has 178,000, starts and runs great.
Detroit learned that lesson around 1982 and has been doing fine ever since.
Any other lame excuses?
